A beaut 2011 Gunslot forum "If you've got one knife" raised a flood of terrific responses - several days after the torrent I pitched in with my tried n'trusty ESEE 5S. I recollect classy votes ranging from all-in-one swiss army-like variants to a good 'ole Black Commando to what sounded more like a mountain proffi's ice hammer...
As the Washington circus lines up to ban or endorse firearms - please reassure me somebody up there has an once of commonsense!!! - I reckon it's time to thrown in your cards "IF WE HAD JUST ONE GUN?"
I've an ex-MP buddy shooting for an AK74 derivative, but for me the cyclic rate of fire is too high - I'm seeing here a kind of Survivalist play - so here's a few weapons I might opt for:
* Our NRA's winning Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting 12 gauge?
* The useful Smith & Wesson 460 XVR with its 14" barrel and that bipod option?
* My Thompson Centre Encore Pro Hunter 270 Win?
* A Sledgehammer MPS AA-12 Assault Combat Shotgun with its 32-round ammo drums?
* Scary scouting dreamland with Sako's TRG-42 .338 Lapua Magnum or their TRG M10 offering?

WHAT DO YOU RECKON?...

the all around gun for bad times when guns are banned I'd choose a big caliber pistol capable of bringing down deer. I'd want it to be easily concealed and easy to hide/stash.
Something that could go for awhile w/o cleaning and is DEAD-ASS totally reliable.

My Glock 21 .45acp. Its powerful and holds 13 + 1. Its completely reliable in every condition. Also .45 acp is very common.

Long time, mate. Wie gehts?

If I had to pick one gun to settle for all puroposes, I guess I'd go with a shotgun.

but a 1911 as your only gun? I prefer guns that work consistently. My vote is my Bushmaster M4, although a DPMS M4 in 7.62 Nato would be a good choice too.

What?

What 1911 have you ever owned that didn't work consistently? Because I've never run into such a piece.

Ditto that, Vaq

Runs, good to hear from you. Try not to be a stranger. But, I know, life gets busy.

Hey I want to say a big "Sorry!" for having not being here for a while. It's been a zanny few months developing my non-lethal devices and although this isn't a face-to-face group of friends I'd like to see what would happen it if we were all locked insideca roadside bar on the odd occassion so we could drown some beers and rum...
Anyway, we're all here n'there so GunsLot will have to suffice.

Back to this one weapon thing... There are more expensive mechanisms but there's nothin' better for realiable than a Browning so what 'bout a BPS 10 gauge 3 1/2"? I'm a rifleman myself but you can't deny for a door stopper a big gun sending a handful of big bit of lead is sure to put the fear of the gods into any rabble.
