Intratec AB10 Question

i have a Intratec AB10 i bought brand new in 1995 from Traders gunshop in San Leandro ca, i fired it maybe 20 times at a gun range and it sat in a safe all this time, my problem is i missed the whole thing about registering it back in 2000 so now its considered illegal, it came with the 32 round clip and its still in the case, how much trouble can i get in if i travel to another state and sell it like in Nevada or Arizona

Can't believe im touching this.. drive east dr dre.. bring the rifle with ya.. (clip and all lol) .. ((im having fun)) you can sell it at any gun store outside of CA.. you can sell it on the street (yep) in AZ .. not sure how that works in other border states.. NV or UT should be the same deal..

DR DRE CA legal issues

of course you mean that you have been storing it outside the state RIGHT???????that is legal and you don't have to register it outside of Kalifornia, that was only for registering for the porpoise of keeping it here, you may legally sell it out of state to a gun shop or private party as long as you don't know or have reason to believe that person cannot legally posses a gun.you may also be able to call a sheriff dept, and a private attorney and inquire about the legality of brining it BACK into state with a 10rd locked magazine in place since it dosnt appear to be on the KASLER list ill paste below as well as a link to the gov page you can find it on.

DRE please remember I'm not a lawyer, but i live in ca and have what would be considered "assault rifles" by the state if i didn't use a bullet button on my build so i know a lil sumpin bout the basakwards laws here........here goes

ca cannot add any new names to the list so any name/model not found on the list isn't necessarily an assault rifle just because it happens to be an AK,or AR clone or other types as i understand the lawall models listed are considered assault type and needed to be registered if you were going to keep them here.since you didn't keep here it all good outside of ca to sell or keep.inside ca id use a 10rd mag locked with a bullet button/or some other mag lock apparatus(bullet button allows for easy removal with the use of a tool as stated in ca law.heres a link to help you find info as well as parts they specialize in ca compliance! http://www.tenpercentfirearms.com/index.php?main_page=ar15

welcome to the site,if you need any more ca law bs let me know if theres anything i can do.

My response was sincere but sarcastic, and obviously da "doc" is straight up.. WOW.. Amaz'n that this whole "bullet button" thing exists.. Never heard of it, and or the lunacy behind it..

Factual story from a couple years ago.. Guy was taking delivery of an AK sub species, says in conversation that he had moved his family from San Diego to Wickenburg based in part to the ridiculous gun laws..

Bunch of us are watching, and "sharing" in this, if you have a local ma pa gun store you know what im talking about, a shared experience.. Everybody's real happy for the new owner, and of course (less he's a Richard) the gun gets unpacked and passed around..

While this is going on, lots of comments bout CA and the stupid gun laws etc..someone says maybe compromise might help.. Guy gets pretty upset, says he's moved because of the "compromise" idea. Guess they were trying to appease some of the left in CA and gave in on a couple of issues back in the 70's & 80's .. G had facts and figures, bottom line is when the local NRA started to appease and compromise all that is now CA law started..

Jay.. You know your stuff.. is that an accurate overview of what happened or what.. fill us in.

greg, since I'm only 31 i can't speak to what happened in the 70s/80s too much, only remember the media scare of the late 80s early 90s you'd see tv reports about how gangs could easily go to other states and gun shows to get armed, then after columbine they went totally berserk, banning everything, we had the evening media puppet show feinstein, clinton among others pleading with america to give up our guns for the greater good "if we ALL putem down wed ALL be safe" speeches every nite.after the "assault weapons ban" that didn't help was lifted, cali kept their own form in place, giving birth to such wonderful "common sense"safety clauses as the following:

definitions apply to terms used in the identification of assault weapons pursuant to Penal Code section 12276.1:
(a) “detachable magazine” means any ammunition feeding device that can be removed readily from the firearm with neither disassembly of the firearm action nor use of a tool being required. A bullet or ammunition cartridge is considered a tool. Ammunition feeding device includes any belted or linked ammunition, but does not include clips, en bloc clips, or stripper clips that load cartridges into the magazine.
(b) “flash suppressor” means any device designed, intended, or that functions to perceptibly reduce or redirect muzzle flash from the shooter’s field of vision.
(c) “forward pistol grip” means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp forward of the trigger.
(d) "pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon” means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top of the exposed portion of the trigger while firing.
(e) “thumbhole stock” means a stock with a hole that allows the thumb of the trigger hand to penetrate into or through the stock while firing.
here is a flow chart to help you understand the pitfalls of owning a battle type weapon in ca http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf
it seems as though their goal was to ban most everything, but got so caught up in their own lawyer speak they left us ways around almost everything they tried to eliminate.also they have helped the gun economy flourish here in a strange way because of the need to "play by the rules" things such as bullet buttons magazine capacity reducers, fake flash suppressors etc all come from their rules being forced on law abiding citizens who then must comply while practicing their favorite type of gun sport or gun collection.
my problem is as much as i care, and as hard as i try to keep up,we are under such a barrage of events, regulations and laws that i can't hear about all of it,but i do read the laws whenever new ones come up,most recently the ban on unloaded open carry of pistols. was going to post a youtube vid of a bullet button, but my net service is either slow,or the vids are bad quality, but basically its a block of metal shaped like the mag release button of an a r15,but the "button itself it stationary, having a spring and a castle nut as a retainer for that spring allowing the mag catch to keep proper tension until you insert a tool that contacts the threaded stud of the mag catch itself.there are a few versions of this as well as a few similar products by other companies that do the same thing, some even have selectable positions for inside ca,or outside ca,prince50(bullet button brand) has multiple tools to make mag changes easier, they even have a magnet attachable version to make it function as no lock is in place, again outside ca only.

A move out of the People's Republic of Kalifornia might be premature as the state is obviously going bankrupt and is only a mattere of time....9 billion dollar shortfall, are you kidding me!? The point being that technically maybe there won't be a "State of California" or People's Republic of Kalifornia if you prefer to move out of......Don't mind me I just can't get over a state being in the hole for 9 Billion dollars.

I have an idea...

Let's repeal the firearms act of 1986... Think about it, we make full auto firearms made after 1986 legal to own for private citizens. The Feds get $200 a pop on the tax stamp, manufactures can up production.... You know there will be a rush to buy, and prices will drop due to rules of supply and demand. Increased production means more workers needed to build, therefore, more jobs are created. You need resources to build out of, so the steel industry gets a boost from the demand for steel, not just for the weapons, but new factories, re-tooling, ect... Hence, more jobs there also. All this new steel being mined and manufactured is going to have to be transported, more jobs available. Haven't even touched on the trickle-down from maintenance on the fleets, energy production, admin and clerical positions, increased sale in aftermarket parts and accessories, increased demand in sales, ect.... Like I have said before, all this country needs is a good injection of common sense.

Dre...

Despite our "colorful" sense of humor, most firearm afficinados are not crazy. Most people who hear about sites like this assume that we are a bunch of ultra-right nut jobs advocating the overthrow of the goverment. In reality we are a group of people with common interests who wish to do nothing more than educate others, share knowledge, and live life to the ideals that this country was formed on. Welcome to the club.

i like your ideas.the reason we can't seem to turn the economy around is simply because of left politics in many areas.cant make more guns, they want less guns, can't make more hot rods, they are bad for the environment.im wanting out of cali, but it will take time to do it so I'm hoping for a collapse of state funds and total breakdown of infrastructure maybe then we can VOTE our own laws and regulations as well as budget for roads schools etc.
