Iraq War Vets

I'm still kind of new to the site, I've read a lot of posts and think you all are a great group of guys. I have noticed that there seems to be a lot of vets on here . Just wanted to open a forum about our "tours"
to see how many of us were near others while deployed.

For instance I was stationed out of Al Taji,Iraq (8 miles north of Baghdad) from 04-05 Combat "HET" Transportation, for 1ST AD "OLD IRONSIDES"

Taji and Diwaniyah

Taji in OIF 3 had a 24 hr PX, BK, Taco Bell, coffee place, Bazaar, huge chow hall, hell I could go on. Taji had it all. Great place inside the wire, shitty place to be outside the wire. Pkato, Diwaniyah was great for us in OIF 1. The shiites loved us and hated everyone else. They mortared the Spanish and Dominican Republic camps until they found out there were Americans living there. Then a couple Iraqi police actually apologized for the mortars and said it wouldn't happen again. After we left, though, it all went to shit. Sadr and his Mahdi Militia turned the area into a shiite/Iranian controlled area for a bit. I don't know what it's like now
