just stumbled upon it

Im bran new to the site, first of all its a nice change of pace to the usuall internet communities (i.e. facebook) im obviously conservative, and I belive in gun and gun carry rights, I have personally had to pull my weapon 3 times in the past year and half, I work in a enviroment that puts me in situations to make very bad people very angry and there have been times I come into contact off the job. Of those three times 2 were close to home - within a hundred feet or so- I dont belive that a politican should take that ability to protect myself, my family, and the general public when the worst situation they have ever been in was that there was nothing on tv one day, boo hoo. I have been to astraila and great britain and witness how there great gun control is coming, I still have a paper form branbury where there was a shooting and home invasion on the back page, im no road scholar but seeing how we still run things of that sort on the front over here it would seem that gun violence is more prevalent and thus more of a problem over there, if you do the math on the reports of gun violence and then figure half of crimes go unreported and convert the number to percent based on population so as to eleminate the fact that there are 12 times as many people over here then you would find there are much more issues in these "gunless" contries than our own, I mean if the police arnt even armed how detured would you be to go rob a bank or settle an old score.

Now that im done ranting, good evening to you all and be safe out there.

When you look at the statistics, gun control is a myth. I did some work on this earlier this year when our state legislature had a bill out that would have made my state (WA) like California. So I took the statistics from both states over the same years and compared them. Now California has draconian gun laws. Your clips have to be 10 or less. You can't have an AR (because it looks mean). You can't buy ammo in quantity or across the border. You can't get a CCL.

On the other hand, Washington is a "shall issue" state meaning they must give you a CCL unless you're a felon. There are no ammo restrictions. You can have an AR even though it looks mean, etc. So, you would think Washington's crime is out of control and California is a gun free paradise.

But you would be wrong. California's violent crime rate is 2.4 times higher than Washington. I haven't compared all states. It's a lot of work to find the rights stats and pull it all together, but for citizens of my state it's a drop dead argument. Where can they go with it? It is simply untrue that tougher gun control results in less crime. Indeed, one could suggest that the opposite is true. Where citizens cannot protect themselves, crime is noticeably higher.

thank you now if we could get that across to the crazy ass liberal folks, another big contributer to violence is the kind of people, if you get so angry you want to choke someone out for stepping on your shoe then maybe go see a shrink

First off welcome

I am new to the site myself.I'm glad you believe in the right to carry guns and so forth. The most distrubing part of your posting to me was(if I read it correctly)is that you pulled your weapon 3 times. If you pull it you better have just cause and you pull it,you better use it.If you don't you will end DEAD.Especially close to home, you will get back shot and your gun will more than likely get other people killed.Pulling a gun is VERY SERIOUS and DEADLY act to you or whom ever you pulled it on.That's all I'm going to say.I don't think I'm the only one that feels this way.But really WELCOME to this site and use to every chance you get. This is the best site for excellant information I have found. Not trying to pick on you or say anything bad toward you.Take care.

I have had occur an attemped mugging, A man enter my home smelling of weed and who wasnt supposed to be there, and at work I used my duty weapon to stop a dangerous man from harming others, so before you jump to conclusions, yes all were legal and I am trained in the proper use and handeling of weapons for the defense of me and others. and if you really want to be technical its my responsibility as I took an oath to protect the people of my state and the USA as a condition of my employment by the people of the state of florida and as a law enforcment officer in said state.

calm down buddy not everyone who pulls a gun out of the safe is meaning to rape pillage and murder.

I'm calm partner

you didn't say anything about being a LEO(unless I misseed it). There a lot of people out that pull a gun not realizing what can happen.I apologize, didn't mean to offend and now knowing you are,I know you have the proper training. You will find this site is VERY opinionated, that is good and bad.My intent was not offend, you would be surprised how young people I come across who wave around guns like a flashlight.Again I apologize......and WELCOME to the site LEO.

Welcome aboard

Where in Florida are you located? I am now in Fort Walton Beach and will be here for at least two year, unless I get fired of course, then all bets are off.
