I am sure they

will end up in Virginia...if not right away, later for sure. I think everyone in the Navy ends up in Virginia or most anyway, at one time or another.

Guess is the Navy will make every effort to keep them together, as they have a lot of bucks invested in them now.. Thats fantastic.. every reason to be proud of both of them.. I don't know much about that rate except its the future of the Navy.. No question were going all Nuke, and they are obviously in great shape for thier future.. Can't even imagine what sorta money they will get to reenlist.. Guessing your pretty proud, sure have every reason to be..

not that they're lifers, but just sayin'. You can get half of it up front. If they both do it it would be a nice down payment. My kid was offered the same (Arabic linguist), but she turned them down flat.

Not a bad gig

being a glow worm. My cousin has had a great naval career in nukes and the civilian world loves those folks when they retire. Very nice indeed.

there is so many civilians trying to lure them away. But Obama said we're not going to build any more reactors, oh wait a minute now we are and maybe drill for oil to. I can't keep up with his changes.

the updates to the nuke boats are in the style of reactors they use . The USS Enterprise has 8 small reactors on it while the new carriers have 2 large ones. The new ones also have more advanced controls and stuff like that. The subs are updated to but most of there updates have to do with making them quieter and the new boats get the newest style reactors.

Congratulations to your son-in-law! Excellent achievement on his part. I'm sure you're proud of him, and of your daughter also.

She married a CWO3 and moved to Germany where she got a job with a contractor doing the same thing for three additional years. That's excellent money, but not always stable. Another option would have been the NSA route. Now she's in Texas going to school and working as a barrista! No matter who you 'work for' in that line of business, you actually work for the NSA.

DLI (Defense Language Institute) in Monetery, Ca, is an excellent school and a nice place to live. The Arabic course was over 90 weeks long, but you come out of their fluent.

DLI

I went there in 1962 when it was still the Army Language School. Excellent school, and a fantastic location. I really loved it there. That area of CA was full of beats (later called hippies), and only a little over 100 miles from San Francisco and Haight Asbury. Great place to be when you're young and unattached. Possibilities for sex were practically limitless, especially for those of low standards! I took as full advantage of it as I possibly could. If I could somehow have the chance to do it over again, I'd take even more advantage of it.

i am tempted to push the military a bit,i don't see much happening good with the economy for the next 4-5 years, she might as well use that education for something,i already know to many college grads working way below their schooling. She is maintaining a 3.8 or so gpa,i don't really know what the civillian market has to offer, but i agree with the NSA,which would be fine too.
