I personally don't like them, but others seem to. I would rather carry a Ruger LCP. just my opinion

i agree with reaper, check out kahr as well, they are pricey, but i hear a lot of good about them, they seem to be a favorite back up weapon with police officers and they even have a .45
Reaper308
I have heard good things about Kahr as well.

Why i posted this question is for a friend of mine. This is his very first gun.He wanted something fairly reasonable in price. And he was in a rush to get a fire arm.So i figure why not ask the guys at gunslot, what did they think.

I have a Kal-Tec PF-9 it's my daily carry and is fine for that proposes, I would not recommend it for a first buy nor would I recommend it for a range gun. It is small and reasonably accurate; however it is difficult to dissemble ever harder to reassemble and is in no way a fun gun to shoot.
swabey
how about a bersa .380 to start with

Kahr is way too expensive!
DEMO
For a first gun, get something you will want for a while. That 380 would not be fun to shoot. If its your only gun you want something to grow with. A kel-tec is a pocket gun for deep concealment. Not something for home defense. Get a quality Beretta or a used Walther PPK 380 for the same price.
The test will be to rent a Kel-tec and then decide. If you feel comfortable go for it.
