Has anyone had any experience with the pistol PRO or CON. Your input appreciated.

I have shot the many versions of the ultra carry. I think its a very nice piece. The only con is the price tag... but you're gonna have to pay for any really nice gun. I plan on getting the ultra covert II someday (I think it looks badass, and I like the crimson trace grips). I would suggest one if you're looking for a compact 1911.

Turn the druggie white trash thief into the Law. 2 problems solved, 1 he don't and won't have a gone again and 2 he quits stealing your and other peoples stuff.

he used to steal from his parents and my wife(his younger sister), been in and out of jail, has 2 kids with different women, doesnt pay child support, but owns 2 kimbers, must be good to be him, i mean, i hate having to earn my things, oh wait, i dont. the problem is i know he is till getting hopped up on shit, and my wifes parents keep giving him stuff to pawn.

I know. I'm a Glock guy looking in the mirror asking myself the same thing.
My thinking (right now)however is struggling with a better CCW than a Glock (while it is damn good) can provide.

I have three Glocks, and while the G34 isn't a real good CC gun, my G19 and G26 fill roles for CC in all weather and all clothing types. If I'm in shorts and t-shirt, my G26 provides 11 rounds of 9mm +P with one or two 17 rd spare mags, with larger t shirts or my heavy polos, the G19 disappears and in witer dress with jacket or coat, I wear both.

I couldnt agree more with that statement. I am looking foward to shooting the xd(M) tomorrow, I will try both the 9 and 40 I wonder what all the hype is about. I dont know anyone (besides you) with personal experience with them. All the Glock guys on other sites dont like them, but they are more than likely cons

Ugly, XD and Glocks

are really about the same for all practical purposes. I don't like the grip safety of the XD, but it's really just a personal preference. I tried gripping my wife's gun in all sorts of different ways and never failed to depress the grip safety. My gripe with the XD is the height. My G19, which is the compact (midsize) Glock 9mm, is the same height as the subcompact XD 9mm. So for the same height, I get five more rounds. However, this allows the Glock slide to bite the hand if the shooter has large hands or uses a high grip like me. I have the Glock skid mark on my right hand, but it's more of a nuisance during practice than anything else.

agree (glock vs XD)

they're very similar. it comes down to personal preference. both will be reliable and simple to operate. see if you can find somewhere to rent both and shoot them side by side

I like it

I am/was a Glock guy.. I had the G22 (full size 40) now have the G27 (compact 40).. and I it alot. Very easy to maintain and shoot, and never any issues.
I was never very impressed with the 1911 guns but when I held the Kimber Custom Crimsen Trace Carry II, I was ready to buy it on the spot. It was the Ultra version (3" barrel).
Unfortunately it was sold and they didnt have another one. The gun shop said he could get me one in a couple days so i ordered it. Over a month later i still dont have it. I got frustrated, thought more about the price and went in and cancelled the order.

Reason 1) Price.. I bought an XCM 9 at a gun show for half the price ($600.)with all the assessories.

Reason 2) After reading about the 1911's (which I knew nothing about) I thought the 1911 may be more maint than im used to, and being only a 3" barrel, decided that the XDM may be more like i'm used to. It is a full size 9mm (better for shooting), my glock is a compact 40 so got some variety there, The Ultra was a 45 and I havent owned any 45's yet as they were always too heavy..

Anyway that being said, I am very happy with my XDM9 and wont sell it, but when I look and hold the Kimber, I am still thinking about it and there may be one in my future as well.. I think however (if it was avl), I would get the longer barrel 4" instead of the Ultra 3"..
They both appears to be a very nice gun, everything I have read about it was very positive, never negative.
It appears to be one of the best 1911's, especially in that price range.

One of these days... :-)
