KRISS Vector .45 ACP Carbine
Before I begin, I'm not sure if this belongs in the Assault Rifle category or the Submachine Gun category. I was watching the Military Channel Today (I can't remember which program) and I saw a piece on KRISS' Super V submachine gun. Out of curiosity, I googled KRISS and found that they have a civilian carbine in the same design as the Super V Submachine Gun. I was just curious if anyone has shot the Civilian or Military/LE version. Also I was wondering what someone has paid for this firearm. Thanks everyone! |

From the picture, It appears that above the barrel of the carbine is a flashlight. Is that just me getting my hopes up, or is that a built in flashlight above the barrel?
Also, here is the URL: http://www.kriss-tdi.com/

It's optional, not built into the weapon specifically.

Felix at AVGuns.com is one of two rep's for KRISS in Florida for the Class III version. He also deals in the Semi-Auto version.
Unless your looking for something in the same caliber as your side arm which you can keep in your vehicle for those odd times you have to kick in a door and clear a house. Or run down a gang of neighborhood kids skateboarding in your driveway. I see it as a waste of money...
Thats just my personal opinion, but it isn't good for anything other than CQB and if your not likely to get into situations where your in a fire fight it is just and E-Gun ( read as Ego Gun)...

Thanks for the information. I was just really curious. I have NO intention of getting one at the moment lol. Do you recall a price for the Semi-auto version?
Ishootdaily
just over or under $3,000 depending on your options and it is a class III SBR,
Felix offered me one if I want it for just under $2400.00 to $1700.00 depending on the options I would want, Scope, Red Dot, light, ect....
You can find them used and new from between $2000 and $1600 in semi-auto...

Thanks alot for the great info, sir.

It's a sub-machine gun because of the round it fires. A submachine gun is full-auto firing a pistol cartridge. An assault rifle fires a medium rifle cartridge and is selective fire. And there is no such thing as an "assault weapon"!! It only exists in the gun ban terminology to confuse the ignorant into believing they are banning assault rifles.
Ishootdaily
but if you check into it you will find that the paper work on it will be for a SBR on the Semi-Auto...
Saint J.M. Browning
Forgive my ignorance. What does SBR stand for?
Ishootdaily
..
your far from ignorant dude...
SBR ( Short Barrel Rifle )
Semi-Auto = SBR
Full Auto = Sub Machine Gun
In Semi the stock makes it a Rifle...

Less than, what is it?, 18"?

Felix received one of the first one sent out to dealers. He brought it up to the range and it was so damn ammo picky it kinda sucked. Then when he attached the Suppressor it was like a freak Grenade went off in front of the target. BRAAAAAAAAAAA holy crap ScrapMan it hit the ICE -Hogans Alley target EVERYWHERE... lol
After it was broken in and he cleaned it up it shot fine and he changed from the Gemtec to a AAC suppressor and it kicked but...

I think they missed the boat chambering it in .45acp......that's one cartridge that doesn't get much if any better from a longer barrel. Plus, it doesn't generate bothersome recoil in SMGs, at least not to me. 9mm would've been cheaper and more BBs in the mag, but again recoil isn't much of a problem.
Given the size, etc. of the KRISS I wish they'd chambered it in 10mm. Glock 15 or 17rd mags, and that cartridge can definitely take advantage of the longer barrel for more power and longer shots. That, and a 10mm SMG would definitely benefit from recoil-reduction setups.
Putting a good can on any long gun is a two-fer....recoil/blast/flash suppression and noise reduction. That's what I'd spend the above-and-beyond $$ on.
And yeah, the price on the KRISS is far beyond what you would get in return. A preban UZI and .45acp conversion kit, OlyArms, or 3x Keltec carbines for that much dough.

It was chosen to be chambered first in a 45 to showcase it's recoil reduction system, which is quite awesome. they are already making a 9mm version. Mine has the built in surefire flashlight, vertical grip with built in bipod and an EoTech. also with the longer barrel, vs a pistol anyway, the velocity has increased significantly. on the bipod I get a 5in grouping at 50 yards....honestly. And a 30 round adapter for the glock mag is available. This gun is my favorite/ since it shares rounds with my 1911. and that says alot. my collection is vast. With the proper paperwork and tax stamp, you now have an awesome sbr. Simple modular design makes for easy cleaning.

have you shot the Feather ?
Kind of intersting, I have shot it in 22 and 9mm. It functioned fine, though it is too much imo. But the do make it in 10mm and 40m 357 sig, 460 Rowland.
The 10mm looks like it would be an excellent OS weapon. You can break it down and carry it in a laptop carry case, or collapse it and stick it in a backpack.

I have a Feather in .22lr, used to have a 9mm too. Their quality is OK usually, but they basically build the 10mm on special order only from what I've heard.
Since it's a straight blowback, you are restricted to a range of pressure/OAL/velocity/weight.....anything too light/fast/heavy/slow/hot/cold and straight blowback carbines get wonky. If I can't practice with relatively inexpensive vanilla FMJ and then run a variety of hot stuff, the idea of a 10mm carbine gets pricier and less attractive. I suppose you could switch springs and buffers, but that's still mo money and mo time.
Even the H&K MP5 in 10mm (DROOOLLLLL) has multiple locking pieces to choose from; you install the one that works best for your ammo. The FBI of course used mostly low/slow stuff in theirs.
I always wanted a 9mm Feather with a silencer permanently attached to the barrel....still a 16" barrel so no SBR stamp....like you said a nice lil James Bond briefcase blaster. I've used a .22 set up this way and it was a real treat. A 9x25 barrel in a 10mm Feather would be a real cooker if you could get it to run right.
