Kukri knife
Anybody have any experience with this knife. I have read the history and my son has it as a screen saver on his phone. I take that as a hint he would like one and his bday is coming in December. I'll post a pic in a minute. Damn, I missed lunch again. Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth. Thoreau |

My wife bought me a Nepalese kukri from a place called the Kukri House. The shipping was actually more than the knife itself. It's basically nothing more than a polished, sharpened leaf spring, but it's made by the people who have been making them for generations. I haven't used it, it's mostly so I can say I have a kukri.

Have had several (posted a pic of the better half with my fav kukri) and honestly they do not suit me well. I'd rather use a hatchet, hawk or axe for chopping/general clobbering duty, and thrusting with a kukri is kinda, well, meh. I like to be able to cut or stab with my knives, and for tamer field use I'd prefer a machete.
That said, I have a ton of knives and lots to choose from. Cold Steel markets some good kukri users.

I can always count on unfiltered feedback from members. The Gurkha's are fearsome and the knife is part of that. I think in a face to face you have a point. Pun intended.

TXLG makes a good point (pun intended). I love Cold Steel products. I've seen their Kukri, and it looks great. Haven't used it; only saw it at a gun show back in PA.

It is a heavy knife, but also heavy duty...
www.Sportsmansguide.com had them for a good deal a while back... Good gift idea...
