Mexico and USA no longer have a fiendly border or relationship. The war on drugs has created a war on our southern border. I am not knocking fighting illegal drugs. I'm saying the facade of fighting them with unenforced laws has created this situation. The trafficing is probably the only reason for the situation at hand. Our govt. has failed miserably at dealing with our southern border for decades. As has been stated before on this site, "we are at war". Muslim extremists and Mexican drug lords are the antagonists and we are (seemingly) just fighting middle easterners and looking for al queda. If I wanted to dissapear, Id head for the US Mex border or the Afghan Paki border. Sure, they're hot beds right now, because no one is closing them. "Oh but the terrain is too tough to secure"! Tell that shit to China, they built a freaking "wall" with ancient skills and materials, not fucking tin! The drug czars entire budget should go to border security and then the Sheriff Joes of the world will have an easier time cleaning up the strays.

Sorry for the rant. I just meant to say, stay the hell away from our southern border.
Guys, I know a lot of yall live near Mexico. That's why this burns my ass so much.
Our military needs to be authorized and mobilized and DEFEND OUR PEOPLE!!!

Today issued the following statement in reference to Mexico.
"just don't go"
Rick Perry wants O to send more National Guard to the border but wont send the TX Rangers cuz if someone gets killed it'll hurt his campaign for re-election.
I say, if he don't he lost my vote!

Title 10 states that the Army includes land combat and service forces, and organic aviation and water transport. Army forces are to be organized, trained, and equipped primarily for prompt and sustained combat incident to operations on land. The Army is responsible for preparing the land forces necessary to effectively prosecute war except as otherwise assigned. It is also responsible, in accordance with integrated joint mobilization plans, for its expansion to meet the needs of war.

2-26. The Army exists to serve the American people, protect enduring national interests, and fulfill the Nation's military responsibilities. Specifically, the Army mission is to provide to combatant commanders the forces and capabilities necessary to execute the National Security, National Defense, and National Military Strategies. Army forces provide the capability-by threat, force, or occupation-to promptly gain, sustain, and exploit comprehensive control over land, resources, and people. This landpower capability compliments the other Services' capabilities. Furthermore, the Army is charged to provide logistic and other executive agent functions to enable the other Services to accomplish their missions. The Army is organized to accomplish this mission.

A Mexican official says the search for an American tourist believed to have been shot while crossing a border lake is suspended indefinitely.

"There is a recess," Ruben Dario Rios Lopez, a spokesman for the state attorney general's office in Tamaulipas, told The Monitor of McAllen in a copyright story in its online edition Thursday. "We are going to look into new strategies between both U.S. and Mexican authorities in order to see what we can do, because up to now we have not been able to recover the body of this person."

Tiffany Hartley says that on Sept. 30, she and her husband, David, were returning to the United States from Mexico where they went to photograph a historic, half-submerged church.

They were crossing Falcon Lake on Jet Skis when pirates who patrol the Mexican half of the lake opened fire, shooting David in the back of the head. Tiffany Hartley says she barely escaped with her life after vain attempts to save her husband while men on three speedboats pursued them, firing their guns.
But the death may have been a case of "mistaken identity," according to a global intelligence firm.
David Michael Hartley, 30, of Colorado, was gunned down in Mexican waters Sept. 30 while his wife, Tiffany, dodged bullets and raced her Jet Ski back to American soil.
Oct. 6: Tiffany Hartley lays a wreath near the site where her husband, David Hartley, was allegedly shot last week, on Falcon Lake (AP).
A report released Wednesday by the Texas-based intelligence firm, STRATFOR, says members of the Zeta drug cartel may have targeted David Hartley because they mistook him as a spy for Gulf cartel, a rival drug trafficking group.

Mexican identified two suspects -- Mexicans Pedro Saldiva Farrias and his brother, Jose Manuel Saldiva Farrias -- both believed to be members of the Zeta drug cartel from Nueva Ciudad Guerrero.

The report, obtained by FoxNews.com, says it's likely that the Hartleys were misidentified as members of the rival cartel.

The couple used a vehicle with a Mexican license plate to transport their Jet Skis to the U.S. side of the lake. The church they intended to see, Old Guerrero, is a spot notorious for cartel members to conduct "surveillance and countersurveillance operations," the report said.

The STRATFOR report says that Hartley's body was likely destroyed after it was determined he was American to "prevent a backlash" from the U.S. government.

Leaders of the Zeta drug cartel are reportedly angered that its lower-level operatives carried out an unauthorized shooting on Hartley, according to the San Antonio Express-New.

"The cartel boss — Miguel Treviño — is highly upset over the fact that these individuals shot and killed Mr. Hartley and it's our understanding that the cartel boss is hunting for the killers of Mr. Hartley so he can take care of them himself,” Fred Burton, the firm's vice president of intelligence, told the newspaper.

The STRATFOR report also claims that the beheading Tuesday of Rolando Armando Flores Villegas, the lead Mexican investigator in the case, was a "stern signal to both the United States and Mexico that no body will be produced and to leave the situation alone."

The U.S. government, meanwhile, said Thursday that it is doing everything possible to help Hartley's family.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Thursday that "the beheaded body of the brave Mexican investigator that just showed up shows what we're dealing with."

"Clear and Present Danger", anyone? Or maybe just a few Tomahawks. There have got to be some nearing their expiration date.

"I have always been a soldier. I have known no other life. The calling of arms, I have followed from boyhood. I have never sought another." From The Virtues of War, by Steven Pressfield.
