Mr Bezos
CEO Amazon.com

It is with great concern that I write you. It is hard to communicate with you thru your many layers of security.
I am very dismayed with you and Amazon.com. I found out today that you support the Freedom Alliance.
Freedom Alliance is an anti gun, anti Second Ammendment Rights Organization. FA spreads falsehood and innuendo re: gun advocates and guns in general. Guns are our only defense for us and our families. I am not some paranoid nut case. I am a father of 4, grandfather of 5 and a Retired Real Estate Broker and Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser.
I have worked hard all my life. Freedom Alliance and the new administration are Progressive Socialists.
Socialism has been a failed exercise in this country since FDR. I am not a Conservative, I like to consider myself a moderate. I am Fiscally conservative and morally liberal.
Organizations like FA want to dis-arm America. If this would somehow be done, we as Americans will become even more slave bound than we are.
I find it hard to believe that you are a Socialist with relatives coming from Cuba. Look how Fidel Castro has sucked the life out of Cuba and held the Cuban people hostages for 50 years, by dis-arming them.
If your support does not cease from Freedom Alliance, I an my entire family will never do business with Amazon.com and any company that you do business with.
I am also a member of a 9,000+ member organization that will put up a very good fiight against you and your associates. This is the only way we have to combat this tyrannical like reign of Organizations like Freedom Aliiance, Handguns, Inc and the like.
Please respond as to your plans on this matter.

Hopefully,
samD

FYI:

Dear Michael Schuyler,

My name is Anthony Dunkley of Amazon.com's Executive Customer Relations. Jeff Bezos received your e-mail and asked that I respond on his behalf.

Freedom States Alliance is actually just one of over 1,000,000 members of the Amazon.com Associates Program. Associates post links to Amazon.com on their sites in exchange for a small percentage of the sales that result when their visitors follow these special links to place an order with us.

Please note that we do not endorse the point of view of any of our Associates, nor would we consider ourselves sponsors of their web sites. In fact, our Associates include prominent web sites representing all sides of nearly every important political and social issue of our time.

Here are the guidelines we do require of Associates:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Sites that Do Not Qualify for the Amazon.com Associates Program include:

* Sites that promote sexually explicit material
* Sites that promote violence
* Sites that promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion,
national origin, physical disability, sexual orientation or age
* Sites that promote illegal activities
* Sites that violate intellectual property rights
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope you find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact me directly at ecr@amazon.com if I may be of further assistance.

Regards,

Anthony Dunkley

My original letter (posted elsewhere here)

Hi Jeff,
I am a long-time customer of Amazon. Look up my record and you will see a long list of monthly transactions dating back many years. I don't think there is a month that goes by when we do not buy from Amazon. My wife and I are librarians, but I've branched out and now use Amazon for just about anything I want to purchase on-line. I'm writing to you today about your support of the Freedom Alliance. This is an anti-gun group, Jeff, and I wanted to take just a couple of minutes to express my concern about them. I'm not a 'gun nut' or a 'right winger' so please don't write me off quite yet. I think my concern is legitimate and I'm not about to yell, scream, and shout about this.
I understand the concerns of Freedom Alliance as well. They want to stop gun violence. That's a legitimate goal I don't see how anyone could not support. It's just that they are going about it completely wrong. Law abiding citizens obey gun laws. Preventing these same citizens from buying guns or carrying them is not going to prevent gun violence. In fact, it just may increase it. Here's what I mean:
ALL the massacres you have read about: Columbine High School, Virginia Tech, and the latest mall shootings, have taken place in so-called 'gun-free areas.' This is where a school district, college, or management of a private property has made a 'no guns' policy and put up a sign to this effect. All students know a strict 'no guns, even facsimiles or play guns' rule is in effect at the local schools. All college students sign a form that says they've read the 'policies' of the school which include no guns on campus. The penalty in both cases is instant expulsion. Everyone who enters a mall reads the sign on the door: "No guns allowed."
Of course, law abiding and rules conscious citizens abide by these policies. They leave their guns at home. Now, do you think anyone who is planning a nefarious deed is going to heed these policies and rules? Do you think a mentally disturbed person considering suicide is going to read the "No guns" placard at the mall, then turn around and go home? No, he will not. He will not because that sign assures him that he has a whole building full, a campus full, a mall full of unarmed people who cannot defend themselves against his wrath. It's a perfect opportunity for mayhem. In fact, places like that are preferred. Rules like this create targets.
However, if the people in these stores and on these campuses were armed themselves and properly trained, the chances of a massacre are much less. One school district in Texas (Sorry don't know which one) has passed a policy encouraging their teachers to take courses and apply for a concealed weapons permit. Do you think a disgruntled student is going to stage a massacre at THIS school district? Me neither.
The fact is, people who want to get illegal guns can get them on the street. It's easy. So when you see groups like Freedom Alliance pushing for legislation to ban a certain kind of weapon they don't like, ask yourself: Is this an effective way to solve the problem? For example, would it be effective to pass a law that prevented the sale of 30 round clips? Of course not, just bring more clips. They drop out and can be replaced within a second. Click, drop, jam, done. How effective is that?
So I'm asking you to drop your support of these guys. They are not doing any of us a favor. They may be well-meaning, but their solutions don't work. Plus, they penalize the wrong people. They are creating targets.
Thanks for listening.

Sincerely,

Michael Schuyler

Moderate. Fiscally conservative and morally liberal. Forgive me, because as a future presidential candidate (vote run in 2020), I should have known this type of political belief had a name. Now I can tell people what I am without explaining and using crayons and hand gestures. A moderate. Thank you. You people are so smart. NAVYSEAL AND BENJB, I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU!!! GET BACK IN THE BUNKER WITH RHAGER AND BULLETBOY!! Geez, some people. As for you, samD, thanks.

There is a quaint old western gunshop in Tombstone that is kinda neat. In Bisbee there is 2nd Ammendment guns next to a great hamburger & beer joint. Name escapes me now, but it is out of town heading for Douglas.

it's not bad, they were just wiped out from the Obamanation. I have a bunch of AR mags and some Back up iron sights i'm going to take in there to sell on consignment. My wife says no, but they take 20 percent and 80% of something is better than 100% of sitting in my closet, especially since they were free courtesy of the scrap yard in Camp Warrior, Iraq. They guy who owns the place seems like a good guy. My wife has to go to the hospital in Tucson to see a specialist, and I'm really looking forward to checking out some of the gun stores up there.
