if your looking for cheap to shoot "battle rifles".. i would look at any of the AK's that 7.62X39 round is still cheaper to buy.. (find a re loader, thats the only way to go bro).. If you get into the whole "i inch group" thing then go with the AR's on battle rifles. Or do the old mil surp thing.. not only a piece of history, but they have lasting (actually appreciating) $ value..

If you want a fun little .22 you might think about a CZ.. cheap, and good quality for the bucks..

im still looking and will wait until after x-mas.....who am i kidding....as soon as i know what i can legally buy in Illinois im buying!!!!! but i've seen some pretty good deals on the WASR...SO FAR

ebear, cool man, I'm happy for you. That's nice to have a range that close. You would probably like a WASR. If you get one of those, try to see it and handle it frist. I know you like ordering off of an auction site sometimes. I've seen a lot of good WASR's and I've seen a few that are hit and miss, some have slanted front sites and the finish isn't that good, and others have a great finish and nothing wrong with them. But, no matter what they look like, they all shoot pretty good.

I also have a WASR and I have shot the living shit out of it and never had a problem. Get the WASR then you can start saving up for a AR or a M14. Glad you hear you will be able to shoot some long guns other than the Gamo.

on it, I bought a picatinny rail action cover for mine and a 3-9X42 scope, it just don't work, every time you shoot the SOB you have to re zero the scope, it's all over the place....Iron sights are good up until about 200 meters (depending on your vision) and the gun is not accurate beyond that anyway.....Get the WASR, it's within your budget and you won't be sorry!

Have you looked into a SKS, yet? Cheaper than a AK, and just as reliable! I haven't had mine long, but it's became a gun I think everyone should own!

SKS $100-$300 you can get AR_15 in this cal and you might be able to get change out barrels plus there are other rifles that will do this your have to look around ammo is cheap for the sks/ak you can buy case's and have it come right to your door :>) (reminds me i got 2000 rounds to use lol aand the glock has a change out barrel to. good luck have fun no range near me to blast the day away.

People buy AKs because they can't afford an AR. Just save yourself the hassle and additional expense of having a commie piece of shit and save for the damned black rifle.

Then again, AKs are built so an uneducated farm boy can learn to use them in 15 minutes, so maybe it is the best gun for a Meskin union worker. Might take you half an hour to learn it.

I recommend skipping the ever reliable, but clunky and not so accurate AK line of weapons... These were designed in 1947 and now are the most popular weapon in the world due to the fact that they are cheap and easy to manufacture. I don't know of an actual civilized nation that uses them.. and no China is communist, not civilized...

If you need that budget range buy a Russian SKS to get that round and a good accurate and reliable weapon....

Buy a nice AR platform other than Olympic, Ruger or Smith and Wesson and you will be fine and understand why our military uses them...

I've said for a while now that every soldier should get issued a midget. That way you have an animal you can train to wash your gear, you can stick them in your rucksack and give them an MP5 (or in this case, a Krinkov) so they can pull six o'clock security, and when you have a tough day at work, you can come home, tell your midget to lay down in the corner, and you can run across the room and kick it. That'd be a great stress reliever, right?
