I found out why my feeder has been emptied out so quick. You might need to click on the images tab and open them full size to view it better.

Vaquero
Raccoon?
Ok there are pics now.
HampsterW
cat got your bait?...........Oh,wait..............lol
Reaper308
does he have friends helping from the ground?
Saint J.M. Browning
No, those are the lib racoons. They're letting him work so they can reap the rewards. lol
Vaquero
You got a "project" out there??
Saint J.M. Browning
lol
Yeah, I was glassing the other day and saw one by a fence post selling deer cane for $20 a pop or a BJ.
And a pimp racoon popped a cap in one 'cause he tried to stiff one of his 'coon hos. lol
Saint J.M. Browning
Lil' SOB. Checked my trail cam and the varmint's been spinning the thrower every night. He' ll come in around midnight with 2 buddies, climb up and start spinning it, run down and eat a little, hogs come in, he runs up and spins it some more. They're in cahoots!
I hate racoons.
Vaquero
out of hail screen and fasten over the thrower. Pisses 'em off to no end!
Saint J.M. Browning
Sounds good, Vaq. Thanks
HampsterW
hell, they looked like cats....what do I know? There ain't any racoons within several hundred miles of me....lol
Saint J.M. Browning
Raccoons are demon varmints. And they fool many people.
Most people like them, because at first they disguise their evil and those unfamiliar to their true nature are like, "Oh, it's SO adorable"
daisycutter
'coon. I have to say, the 'coon looked kinda cool with what appeared to be an Indian caste mark between it's eyes.
Saint J.M. Browning
But then when the 'coon is annoyed by your lack of providing him with all you own, things change.
At this point, one realizes "This raccoon is kind of a dick."
Saint J.M. Browning
Once the 'coon knows you are no longer under is cuteness spell, it reveals its true nature.
Saint J.M. Browning
And, without the Knights of the order of the Thistle, the Raccoons would organize and Armageddon would begin.
samD
LOL
Saint J.M. Browning
lol
See? That's what I mean. Thank goodness for the order of the thistle. They keep them unarmed. :)

Wow! That was crazy. I wonder if that buck stuck by the trail cam because the light. It was a nice buck too. That's a horrible way to go. It would've been luckier to get shot.
Ishootdaily
I can see why people pretty much want to keep them thinned out.
Builtf0rdtough
that was a super nice buck. he was in velvet too!
luckybychoice
I got all kinds of "Coon rage" jokes going on in my head now, none of them proper.

and Lucky..
St. John.. one realizes "This raccoon is kind of a dick." was to cool.. spit coffee all over the new lap top..
On the buck deal... i wonder if there's a wound we can't see.. The normal drill is yearlings, and does for obvious reasons.. and while yes its a bad way to go.. it's a good example for the anti hunters..
Fact is that even this was much quicker than the normal broken leg and starving... or just plain starving.. The anti hunting group has no idea what really happens in the world they don't go into. I like to use the analogy that death by 30-30 is the animal equivalent, to dying in your sleep around 90.. You guys can add your own finnish to this.. eg; post coitus ..
Saint J.M. Browning
Absolutely. Case in point, this last weekend when I was at the lease hunting, one guy got a nice 9 point buck. I say nice, because its rack was good and the you could tell from its body frame that it was a good size buck. But as we got it on the gambrel and started skinning, we noticed that it seemed thin.
We found out that it had a busted jaw and was missing its bottom teeth. I don't know how it happened. A fight with another buck maybe, but I've never seen this kind of damage without some other wounds going on. Anyway, it was clear this thing hadn't been eating, not well anyway, for days. Even when skinning it, tons of fur was just falling out. It was definitely stressed and sick.
He was lucky he got shot by this hunter. How many more weeks would this thing have suffered if not?
samD
'coons & Hoes what has this site become? lol
Love those pics. The animal world is evolving along with the goat humpers. We need to clean them up!
Lock & load!
greg az
coons and hoes indeed.. yep the "padre" is needed my friend..lol. and real glad to be back.. did get tickled with the "he's a dick thing from St. J..
His comment about the buck should be shared with anti hunters.. That animal would have (did) suffered much more than the humane way it died by the hunter...
I actually don't have problems with "vegans".. miss guided or not at least they "walk the walk" ..
What bothers me is the anti hunters who sit down in their leather shoes for a steak dinner, and bitch about how horrible hunting is.. guessing they think stuff just "appears"... sheesh..
Guys this is a drive by to let you all know that all the weapons have now been sold, thanks from the sis-n-law..

LMFAO
Ishootdaily
lol
luckybychoice
biggest pain in the ass, don't do anything good to support wildlife but bitch, hunters on the other hand pay out the nose license fees to hunt game animals, cull the herds, improve the health of the animal populations, and hunting provides stress relief for hunters that can't lawfully kill antihunters.

Is that a cougar (AKA puma, AKA mountain lion, AKA panther, AKA mountain cat, AKA catamount )?
That IS one smart cat
MattyTheJet
I love 'em, from a distance.
margaritaville
Which is scarier, the deer feeder hunting or the size of that CAT.
tallguy007
Oh it's bring that buck home to daddy lol good kitty wow REAPER that's a BIIG cat shot the can get the buck all is good lol
psmalone
I always heard big cats were dangerous, but a little p#**# never hurt anyone. LOL
greg az
eveytime i read this thing i crack up.. think pard started this with can we call ya bill, then Saint did the the "this raccoon is kind of a dick." ..
You know your lossing it when you find your self giggling like a 7 year old girl.. sheesh..
Ok cats.. info and quick story.. Just heard yesterday that they (mt lions) have the largest "range".. not just terrioty, but actuall "go there" range of any mamal.. I had never heard this before, and for some reason i question it, as i'd always heard the polar bear had that record.. just repeating what i heard..
now to a mt lion story.. i've only seen two in my 35 years in AZ... both by accident, both right aftter dawn, and at approx 3K feet elavation in summer. The story didn't result in seeing one, but remains one of my favorite camping trips.. This was on a scoot. in 85, Tucson to three points then south to the "growler mountains".. this is part of a natl park, and right on the Mexican border.. Back then it was a smugler infested area, but did not carry the danger that it would today.. The park hq had pictures of lion tracks on the wall.. I never realized how large they were till then.. theres an unpaved road that does a scenic loop around the section of the growler mts close to the park HQ.. first arroyo (stream) that crossed it was the access to wilderness bike camping.. obviously set up on top of the arroyo.. breaking out gear and see a track.. actually put the ground cloth on top of the track.. Tracks all over.. found one that was obviously running (back spray, nail dig etc) .. couldn't find the rest of them..didn't look far enough... must have been like 15 feet apart..didn't see any...heard them.. WiLD experiance..
Reaper308
Greg, not sure if you know this or not... but the Tumacacori Highlands in Southern AZ is home to jaguar as well as mt loins. I believe it's the only place in N America where they reside.
Ishootdaily
Wasn't some guy charged for leaving a trail that a poacher used to track down and kill one a year or so ago?
Big Cat's get killed down here in Florida now and then, mostly on roads sad to say. Panther is protected, but between territory invasion by subdivisions, farming and such, then seem to either quit producing young or end up dead from some other interaction with humans.
Reaper308
I don't know the specifics but I believe someone was charged. There was a big cover-up scandle along with it. You can get a lion tag here but jags are protected.
Ishootdaily
really really...
We had a hush hush type of thing down here that almost got past everyone. The Seminole Indian Chief Billy (something or another) killed a big male Panther. It all got cleared up with the Feds giving the Indians the right to kill whatever they want excluding White People and other Indians of course.
He did it off reservation lands which was the biggest contention the Fed's had with him, he claimed Native Rights to do so anywhere he wants. Ended up with it being ok on their lands and he got his wrist slapped.
MattyTheJet
You mean they don't actually have them roaming around Jacksonville? lol
MattyTheJet
I love racoons, but they're such a pain in the ass creature sometimes. I got a huge dent in the bumper of my Hyundai because one of them cut left instead of right and got himself killed and took $1000 off the trade-in value of my car. Grrr!
greg az
No i sure didn't.. and really interested in this, as that area was an old stomping ground of mine, obviously saw the occasional Mt Lion print, and scat, but never had a visual...
Did hear couple years ago of Jaguars being sited in SE AZ, but sure not in the tumacacori area.. Thats a lot further north than i would have expected, and would think that indicates an increase in their population.. Maybe smuglers are now on the menu.. either that or a bunch of meth/coke head cats..
