DICKENSON COUNTY, Va. -- Dickenson County's former Commissioner of Revenue, Ronnie Robbins, will spend two years in prison and pay over $70,000 in restitution.
He was found guilty of defrauding the Department of Veterans' Affairs and for lying about his military service. Robbins was sentenced yesterday in federal court.
He made false statements saying he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Authorities say he used other lies in a claim for disability benefits.
He was Commissioner of Revenue from 1996 until 2010.
