Log Splitter Question

A pal at work asked me this week if the fluid reservoir should be vented. I got to thinking, that in a perfect world I would say no. It's a zero sum movement - but my world isn't perfect! I thought that the oil was hydroscopic (like brake fluid) though. What's the answer folks?

Thanks guys - I'll look like a hero at work Monday!

Depends on the system

a closed loop hydrolic system will have no vent hole and a open one will. Most logsplitters are of the open type.

America is not at war. The U.S. Military is at war. America is at the Mall. If you don't stand behind our troops, PLEASE feel free to stand in front of them!
