What kind of optics do I need, to take 500+ yard shots? I would realy like to be able to shoot 800 yards. Is there a good scope that someone could recomend that won't break my wallet?
In the Leopold scope you can buy the Vari-3 6.5x20x50mm or the 8.5x25x50mm scope a lot cheaper than if you buy it in the Mark 4 model. I would go with a 20 MOA base to help with the longer distances like a 1,000 yards. I will look and see, I have found a Leopold Vari-3 8.5x25x50mm scope for $773 I will have to look and see where it is. Hope this help's.

We don't need no stinking scope. I lick my finger, test the wind, angle the barrel up, and lob that 22 round onto the target. Yessir, I am that good. I can kill the flea off a mouse's ass with two to the chest and one to the head at 5 miles away, in high wind, without any ammo.
