I want a .357 mag. What is a good .357 for my buck
Taurus makes a good gun, despite what some of the gun snobs here will tell you. Of course the top choice of revolver is Smith & Wesson, but the best bang for your buck is going to be Taurus or Ruger.
They make a 357 mag as well in stainless.
I love mine! I'd take it over a S&W anyday!
stay with S&W
Good price, although not the lowest. Top quality. Extreme strength. No matter what you try, you can't "shoot 'em loose." Who knows what's the most accurate. It depends on the individual gun. I had a 6" stainless Ruger Security Six that shot tighter groups than any of the Colt Pythons, S&W 686's or 19's, or anything else owned by the group of guys I shot with. That's with all of us shooting all the guns. The Security Six is long gone, replaced by the GP-100, which is an even stronger gun. I don't see how you'd go wrong with a Taurus, though. Maybe, since Rossi is now owned by Taurus, they're OK too. They were once pretty questionable as to quality, but I doubt if Taurus would stand for that. If you want a single action, I don't believe there's a reasonable choice other than the Ruger Blackhawk or Bisley (depends on which grip frame you prefer), unless you're loaded with money & can afford a Freedom Arms. The Freedom's are both incredibly strong & incredibly accurate.
was my Colt Trooper MK 3 4" Barrel .357 mag. The very first day I took it to the range, I put five rounds of Remington Golden Saber JHP into 1" at 25 yds. My wife had a death in the family in which a revolver was used, so she has a bit of an aversion to them, so I gave it to my dad. Damn it, I wish I could have kept that gun. I really want the S&W model 29-8 4" bbl 44 mag too.
S&W Model 686P
that's awsome great model
never shot a .357.......but a .44 mag!!!!goddamn that was fun!!!!!!
cap and ball revolver. Loved it. He got it from Cabelas.
i have one of those and a .36 also love them great guns
you shoot black powder right mark? what is the differance in recoil?
it acutaly depends on the load that you set .like for the .36 cal i use 22 grains of powder and for the .44 i use 29 grains but it is hard to get the exact charge every time the recoil on the .44 is equal to a 40 S&W or 45 150- 180 grain the .36 is eqaul to 9MM 130-150 grain these are rough aprox.
On the recoil of a cap and ball gun in my point of view is not bad at all. Just a little jump thats it.
would you ever consider buying one?
Fuck yeah!!! I plan on it before winter. Possibly a 1858 Buffalo .44.cabelas has them for$219 or $259 with starter kit.
gotta admit ...they are cool lookin guns...i love that old west look...
is it a timely process? i mean loadin?
How fast can you load a cap and ball gun? Im not very fast so its time consuming for me.
it take me about 4 min to load 5 rounds no safty i leave the hammer down on the empty chamber fun. but cleaning is a bitch black powder is very corrosive and you should clean same day as shooting the longer the you wait the harder it is to clean.back in the day aprox single shot muzzel rifle 3 rounds a minute and a revolver took 2 to 5 min to load all six shots
and will any range let you shoot them thier?
Cap and ball is fun to shoot and reloading is just as fun. Well I think so anyways....
snake im off to catch some zzzzzzzzzzzzz"S
shoot outdoors due to the smoke and i have only shot at a range twice in the last 5 years otherwise i do it the redeneck way.
I either shoot in the backyard or at my friends house. One or the other and somtimes both .
do you shoot youre 44 alot and have you tried fanning yet?
i dont own a .44 yet. My buddy has an 1851 navy colt .44. Yes I have fan the hammer.....its all natural to me. I can fan the hammer like a amateur.
