Lost Values.

Hey there "Gunslot" gang.. I have some things bothering me quite a bit more than usual as of late and figure I could vent it here. I feel like Gunslot patrons may have some feelings of their own on the subject. Even though everyone knows how much value this country has lost over the last few generations. It has started to bother me at a rate in which may cause insanity, ha ha..

Recently I took a second job. So that I could further afford useless shit like electricity, gasoline , and food. When my backward ass generation tells me that I need to be buying. Brand name merchandise put together in other countries priced at 3 times it's worth. So that not only can I be accepted into my "punk-ass" couch dwelling , tit suckling , "rebel without a point" generation. But also that I may strengthen the economy of the rest of the world.

I have tried hard to accept that good ol' American quality is all but dead. Now I understand that those qualities do exist in this day. But you have to look for them. You can't just go to the store down the street and find quality and honesty. It seems like every business from "mom and pop" to privately owned franchises in America can't bid low enough. They fight so hard to sell out. They don't realize how much they have actually sold. It's like you cant even buy a burger anymore without that burger trying to bend you over and take your "butthole innocence" .

Ok I realize these are all obvious things that most of us have been fighting in one way or another . Either it be politically, privately, ranting, voting , or just trying to live life while trying to deal with what's happening around us. But back to my new second job. I started at a privately owned company that builds post frame buildings. or "Pole barns". I watched day after day as we charged thousands of dollars for buildings. That I would build the components for and load up so that they could be built. Every piece of lumber used to put those buildings together . I wouldn't use to build a bonfire. I felt horrible every time I gave a junk pile, to a crew of builders who couldn't give shit less about quality only commission. What really threw me over the edge though was when I met a certain customer..

This guy had stopped in right before our lunch hour. everyone else whom i work with .Just a small crew of shop guys 5 total and the owner/manager. All leave for lunch. So i was the only guy there. This guy had traveled from 3 hours away from where we were located , looking for the manager. I told him that he had left for lunch and wasn't coming back today. The man was instantly very frustrated and looked like he could just pop at any moment. He told me that he had called the manager and told him he was coming down to speak with him about a repair job on his building. Apparently the manager had told him that he would be in. I find out from further conversation that this man .
Had saved money for 3 years and used all the money he had saved up during his 2 deployments to afghanistan. To have a building built so that he could open a small business where he would serve lunch to a nearby factory and part of the proceeds to donate to "Wounded Warrior" or a like cause. This man had banked his lively hood on this business. Unfortunately shortly after construction was complete and the diner was opened . The building began to leak like all over. He said it ruined his stock on many occasions and also made it to where he had to close for several weeks. The biggest bullshit part of all is that. He had purchased insurance through our company to have it repaired. The company cashed in big time on it charging 3 times the price to repair it and didn't repair it. So the man had paid out the yin yang for insurance ,,got screwed, and been waiting a year for a repair. In the meantime he spends thousands repairing it himself. He went broke and had to take out several loans. He tried to sue but due to cost couldn't afford to shut down until after the case. He said he just wanted the company to do right by him. He chose us because we are a privately owned American company. Who buy's American material. Unfortunately the place I worked for bought material from like minded assholes out to bid low and flood the market with junk shit.. After I heard his story I packed up my tools and left the doors unlocked when I left that shithole. I may have big bills but I will not sacrifice my values to pay them when I can help it.. I hate that good Americans are forced to work for places like this to feed their families. I had a second job so I was able to just leave. I did it for all of you who are forced to work for places like this and can't afford to up and leave with your middle finger waving. I love my country and hope that we all can band together one day and bring back our want to give our fellow countrymen a good product. In the end since I to am a veteran. Me and that customer left that very moment and went and had a couple beers together. We remain friends. God bless Americans. Fuck the bullshit. I say live for self worth and the man standing next to you. Thanks to all of you who read my long rant.

I applaud your moral standards and sense of values. I'm pretty pissed right now just thinking about the way that customer has been treated. Too many businesses can't see past the bottom line. It's going to take generations to fix this mess. I hope more like you are available to help it happen.

company. They took in returned appliances, cleaned them up and sent them out for sale.
They were affordable BUT. In my meager mind I could see a poor person buying one of those countertop units, giving it as a Christmas or birthday gift just to find that it is only half working.
My head is too soft, I bitched to the boss, he told me that's the way it's done. I quit.
If it's not 100% don't sell it is how I see it.
That's small scale, your's is huge and I feel sorry for your friend.
Unfortunately, that's human nature from the beginning of time. Men and women take advantage of their fellow man. Always have, always will. Folks like us can't make it all right but we can help.

I hired a man yesterday, when he finished the job I asked him how much $ I owed him, he said $50 or whatever the going rate was. I gave him $50 Yesterday eve I checked with other places and the going rate is $120. I went to his house and gave him $70. See, I'm pitifully soft headed but can't bring myself to screw people.
Somehow the books always seem to balance for me, I'm not losing :<))

Here at Gunslot I have found more proud people. With atleast enough respect to hold on to what we were founded upon. This country is based on freedom and the common good. It may be so backasswards and taken advantage of that new generations cant move beyond the television. But those who seek to rape and bleed this country dry will hopefully one day face the form of true patriots who hold these values and foundations dear..At the risk of sounding violent and I hope no one takes it that way. I hope to one day see the true Americans that stand in the shadows mourning yesteryear when being an American meant more than the clothes we wear and things we own. Come out and re-revolutionize this great country the right way. The honest way. I see alot of people here who think that way as well. A man could never ask another to do more than live his life with honor and integrity. But if we all asked that of our neighbor one day maybe change would truly evolve. Unfortunately too much has had a dollar value attached and not a moral value. Those who want to see this countries soul sold off to make those millions and hold those seats of power wouldn't just give it back to " We The People" but I for one would rather die for something than live for nothing. If I had a legacy I hope it would be that I lived and died an American trying to preserve that dream for my childrens , children..Everyday is a fight for freedom friends . Therefore everyday I'll fight until I can't no matter how small the battle. I wont let these snot nosed brats in my generation ruin my country without that fight.
