Making your own gun
I have heard that a person can make their own gun without needing an FFL as long as they don't sell or give it to someone else and don't transport it across state lines. Does anyone know if this is true? "I have always been a soldier. I have known no other life. The calling of arms, I have followed from boyhood. I have never sought another." From The Virtues of War, by Steven Pressfield.

yes,you can build your own:CETME,HK-91,AK47,RPK,KRINKOV,and many others.basically, you can build a new sheet metal receiver that is non serial numbered but the completed receiver/weapon is non sellable or transferable.i will get the exact laws and post them.

I have heard about a guy who bought a used M2 .50 cal machine gun barrel and made his own gun for it. Seems like a great idea. Those definitely qualify as heavy barrel, and if it's accurate enough for Carlos Hathcock to make a 2500 yd kill using an M2 with unertl scope on a mount made by a navy welder, then the barrel should be accurate enough for "plinking", if you can use such a term when describing the .50 BMG cartridge.

Hathcock's M2 was "highly modified" (what ever that means)

Hathcock's M2 was not modified at all. He had a mount made by a Navy Seabee to hold the 10x Unertl scope from his bolt rifle. That was it. If you have ever seen a M2 barrel, you'll see that it definitely qualifies as a heavy barrel

search the term "80%" when you are surfing like 80% ar-15 lower or upper ect. ect. You can buy them almost done all you have to do is drill a few precise holes and file a few parts and you have a non serial number gun that even Barrack Obama won't know you have :).
Verry much considering a whole kit with three AR lowers with all the jigs, and pits and punches you need. Like 600 buck I beleive. Then I could buy top of the line uppers and have 3 ARs non tracable. Verry neat.
