Marlin 336W

So I was at wally today guess what I saw there....My dream rifle. The marlin 30-30. It was $367.00 and at the local store it was $499.99. Aside from having a scope mounted on it, there is no reason for the huge price difference, and I know for a fact that the scope that was on the rifle was not $100+ in price. Ive bought a shotgun from wally and have had no problems with them at all, but I am curious if the guns that wally sells are any different from what local stores sell. Do they hold anything back with them? I would think that the reason they have such cheap prices is the shear number of rifles they buy from the manufactures grants them huge deals on rifle prices. I yall think that this 30-30 is good to go and good marlin quality, that sucker is as good as mine....This is by far my most favorite rifle in the world...aside from this, my number 2 gun is a 1911, which will take longer for me to buy..lol I want a colt or kimber, shoot even a sig would do me fine. But let me know what yall think about buyin the 30-30 from wally....p.s. dam 30-30 is expensive ammo...30 a box...thats a bad as my .250 savage...did not know that until tonight. lol

If you're still worried about Marlin putting a different 336W in Wal*Mart, call or write Marlin, ask them. Wal*Mart store employees would not be the ones to ask.
I think you don't need to be worried about why WM is less expensive until you find Beijing proof marks on the receiver. :<)

the rifle sold at walmart will be the same as a different rifle with the same product number sold else where.

sorta tough..

sorry you had to put a "well" up, missed this.. you have it, just a matter of how many Walmart buys.. i would hazard a guess (and put money on it, and give odd's im right) that when say "Marlin" makes a run of rifles for Walmart everything that will hold a magnet is the same quality as the gun that goes to "joe blow's hunting & skydiving shope".. That being said i'd bet the stocks are better finished at Joe's than Wally's .. I've held the same rifle your looking at up in Prescott.. The quality of the stock is the same, but the quality of the Finnish sure doesn't appear to be.

Not a deal at all for a piece used for hunting, but this way joe can say my Marlins better than wally's.. So do you buy the cheap one or pay the extra for one that will be worth a bit more later...but is no better for you in the field.. Wally don't need the bucks.. joe does.. im all confused, and also trying to figure out why your 30.30 is costing so much..

sounds like a great deal to me. But you need to find a better place for ammo. .30-30 Winchest Super X PP should be about 15-17/box.

30-30 can be high but then again it isn't for target shooting either.

I'm going to try out the Leverevolution 160 grain Flex Tip and see how it shoots out of that short barrel. Then if I go pig hunting in the future I'll take it and the 308 for giggles...

lol, "Drink like sponges"
I guess that was a reference to your last experience. Sorry that happened. I have to say, I must be luckey, because I've never experienced that. I've seen hunter's do things that weren't too smart or were rude/incourteous. But just flat out moronic like that. <shakes head> It's a damn shame. Pricks like this giving good hunters a bad name and giving anti-hunters fuel for propaganda.
Hope your next one is MUCH better.

up in Maine there was a few that would get together and go Hood Hunting.

Bottle of Jack or Ol Granda, some beer, weed and they would drive up and down logging truck roads with guys on the hood and on the trunk shooting all kinds of shit.

Never went with them, turned them down more than once, there are some that just are not worth the piss to put them out when they pass out and fall into the fire.

so the consensus is to pick up this marlin. I looked at it, its damn pretty. Not one blemish...reckin I might go pick this one up 2morrow...but when you little shop trys to rip you off and not give any kind of deal...I saw SCREW them...thats the whole reason people go to the little shops, everyone knows the price they see on the ticket is mark up...I aint no newbie shooter..lol I hate walmart, but damn I want a marlin 30-30 and I can afford the price they sell them for!

you can't go by what they shop can give you as meaning they are gouging you.

Wally World has clout because of the number of weapons they are moving, ammo and other supply's.

But, yes, you would do just fine going the Walmart route. Just open it up and look it over before you take it home and make sure no one has taken anything out of the box...

Yep the drunk hunt shoot to kill and leave is dusgusting to all of us.. Good and bad everywhere, but honestly i was more than happy to leave that state.. Hey when are you voting..

Sorta.. congrats.. your going to love that Marlin.. Wish you luck on the ammo, think you'll be happy with prices elsewhere..post a pic soon as you can so we can all drool..
