Not speak ill of the dead, you say?

You can speak ill of the dead if they have done "ill" while they were alive. And there isn't anything much more "ill" than molesting a kid.

To those who claim Michael Jackson was exonerated of the crime of sexual molestation of a minor, I would ask a simple question; would you allow your teen or pre teen son to spend a night at Jackson's home unchaperoned?

I thought so.

Perhaps if you are eager to bestow such an honor on your son, you too wish to use your child for a gigantic payday as apparently some parents over the years did with their children, allowing them to stay with Jackson and being paid to keep quiet about abuse.

As for Jackson's impact on the world, it says something truly awful about us that so many people would become rabid fans of this man of little talent. As a child with "The Jackson Five," Michael had a nice little voice and was very cute shaking his hips like an adult (The sexualization of children Michael's age when he performed with his brothers is another article entirely.). But as an adult, Jackson's voice - OK for pop but no great shakes for any other milieu - was thin as a reed with an annoying false vibrato and a squeaky "hiccup" that supposedly drove female fans nuts.

His "dancing" was unique but repetitive. And I find it incredible that some would actually compare him to people with genuine talent like Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire. It goes without saying that neither of those two giants had to grab their crotch on stage to excite their fans.

Gregiry Hines was a superior dancer. Just about any Motown artist of the 60's and 70's was a superior singer. Michael Jackson, the total entertainment package, was a good showman but hardly an earth shattering talent. The outpouring of tributes to him today is a fascinating exercise in wishful - perhaps delusional thinking. Proclaiming anyone "King of Pop" and waxing lyrical about how his talent impacted the music world is a misnomer. It wasn't Jackson's "talent" that affected future pop artists but rather his "style" - a completely different kettle of fish altogether. It certainly was original but worthy of the kind of encomiums we are reading and hearing today? Not hardly.

In short, he was not a "no-talent" but rather a performer of limited gifts who, through savvy marketing, a recognition of trends (such as producing music videos that went far beyond concert performances that was standard fare for most MTV selections), and an eccentric personality, hit the world of pop music at exactly the right moment in history.

A comparison to Elvis Presley is useful here. Presely was also a performer of limited ability but hit America at exactly the right time in history when his shockingly unique style (and having Tom Parker, a man ahead of his time, managing his career), brought unusual success. Elvis was also a great showman and his later career was sustained by his aging female fans who never tired of watching him grind out the old favorites on a Las Vegas stage.

Perhaps it is the nature of pop music today to elevate these performers to heights undreamed of by real talents like Sinatra, Garland, Sammy Davis, Jr., and others whose pop stylings will last forever - even beyond the lifetimes of their fans. I say this not out of spite because I genuinely enjoyed Thriller, Billie Jean, and Beat It as well as other pop music of the day. Although limited in their artistic success, performers like Jackson reflected their times perfectly as all good pop music does. But does this mean that we should elevate Jackson to an artistic pedestal. Not hardly.

I sympathize with many in Jackson's family today. Losing a brother or a son is always a tragedy. But I don't sympathize with Jackson's rabid fans. Losing oneself in the doings of someone who is deliberately manipulating your emotions is a form of narcissm. I suppose like most, I will mourn Jackson's passing as I have many icons of my youth who have left us. Farrah Fawcett, who also died yesterday, elicits the same yearning in my heart to return to what in my misty memory were simpler times when responsibilities were few and I had the optimism and confidence that the whole world was before me for the taking.

I really wish the media weren't making such a big deal of Jackson's death. Other, more vital stories like Iran, health care, and the continuing power grabs of the Obama administration are given short shrift. But covering Jackson means a big audience so one can hardly fault the media for trying to cash in. They'd be crazy not to milk the story for all its worth.

In 100 years, will historians be amazed at the popularity of people like Jackson? Hopefully by then, we will have outgrown our compulsion to place these people on a mountaintop and all but worship their every move.

I disagree

His death means nothing to me, and I agree that a child molesting piece of shit should not be memorialized like he is, but he was a very talented performer and had a huge impact on the music world. Even prior to his death, he had the best selling album of all time, had a huge number of performers who used many of his dance moves and had a great voice for his music genre. Be fair to the freak, musically, he was a great influence. As for crotch grabbing, maybe Elvis "The Pelvis" should be slammed as a hack of limited talent because he relied upon those suggestive gyrations, right?

Millions. That music genre was not my favorite, but I liked his music. I grew up in the eighties and nineties, what can I say?

I'm sick of all the TV coverage. How many old clips do we need to see of him? Why don't the networks show him munching on a tiny wiener???

“Oh, God! That boy moves in a very exceptional way. That’s the greatest dancer of the century”. - Fred Astaire

“I didn’t want to leave this world without knowing who my descendant was. Thank you Michael!”- Fred Astaire (shortly before his death)

“The only male singer who I’ve seen besides myself and who’s better than me – that is Michael Jackson.” – Frank Sinatra

Michael Jackson was vocally perfect. His technique, control, and timing were all perfect. Not to mention he has a 5 octave vocal range. The VAST majority of singers sing in 2 octaves.

There are some very gifted singers out there who can do it. The gunniess world record is 8 octaves.I dont think Julie Andrews had an 8 octave vocal range, or maybe she did but never showed its full potential. A really high whistle voice is not that useful for music imo, Mariah Carey seems to think otherwise. 5 Octave vocal range is extreme for a man. MJ was superhuman when it came to singing. I hate that people dont give MJ the credit he deserves. He was a supremely gifted vocalist and dancer.

KF (Kiddie Fucker) has gotten plenty of credit for his music and dancing. He has not, however, received enough credit for his little boy touching. Great performances don't excuse that.

MJ won his case in court, it wasnt a weak win like OJ either. The jurors all said on CNN that they were absolutley sure the kid and his mom were lying. The kid and his mom had a very long history of lying and extorting money from people.

wrong:

In January 1994, USA Today printed an article confirming that, “photos of Michael Jackson’s genitalia do not match descriptions given by the boy who accused the singer of sexual misconduct.” And why didn't the kids dad take Michael to criminal court instead of civil court?

From the very first time he got accused I didnt really think anything of it. I just thought people might be trying to grab some money out of that guy.

The doctor who did the exam told Fox news KF's genetalia did match the description given. No matter what, he's dead, so the children are just a little safer.

Why would the doctor tell every news source something and then tell fox news something else. The doctor who did the exam was never on fox news. Court records say it was a mismatch. I call bullshit.

The county also interviewed 200 other children who stayed at neverland and their parents, all of them had nothing but good things to say about Michael Jackson.

Gavin Arvizo, was a thief and a problem child. He previously had many suspensions and detentions because of his behavior in school. George Lopez, the comedian, even testified in court that Gavin Arvizo had stole 40 dollars from his wallet in the previous months.

They also harrassed and stalked the actor Chris Tucker continually asking him for money. When he would do something for them they would say its not enough and demand more. Chris Tucker warned Michael Jackson to never let that family into his home, but MJ ignored the warnings. Chris Tucker's ex wife even testified for Michael Jacksons defense at the trial.

The family have a history of extortion. In 1998 Gavin and Star were caught shoplifting some clothes from JCPenny. Caught red handed the mother insisited the boys were planning to model the clothes for the store, even though there was no contract or evidence to support this.

Outside the store Janet Arvizo, the mother, became involved in a scuffle with 3 of the stores security officers. Rather than spend the money on prosecuting the store dropped the charges.

Soon after Janet filed a lawsuit against the department store for $3 million million. She claimed she and the boys had been viciously beaten by the 3 store detectives one of whom was a woman.

During the litigation a psychiatrist was hired and found Janet to be "schizophrenic" and delusional.

2 years later Janet added a new sensational charge claiming the 2 male security guards had "sexually fondled her breasts and pelvic area for up to 7 minutes.

In subsequent depositions Janet, Gavin and Star also claimed they suffered broken bones in addition to there mothers sexual assualt. Although they were never treated at a hospital.

Ulimately rather than face the damaging publicity from a lawsuit the store reached a settlement for $137000 days before the scheduled trial in 2001.

I dont know what NAMBLA is. Im defensive because the facts go against the mainstream opinion. He was a freak, but he was not evil. Accusing someone of being a pedo is a REALLY serious accusation. I hate for people to throw out these accusations when they are not true. In Michael Jackons case, he was an easy target because he was a freak. People need to learn to look at both sides of the story and not just jump the gun cause he was a weird guy. I would NEVER defend someone who I thought is a real pedophile.

That is not a joke.

NAMBLA was protected in San Francisco, CA. They were even allowed to meet in the SF Public Library conference room. Then we tipped off the media and started filming the rats coming out of the NAMBLA meetings... LOL I find it hard to believe that any human would stick up for MJs perverted ways...

No he really wasnt. I had never seen the media so hard on someone.

As far the courtroom, its only natural he would win as the accuser and his family were clearly pathalogical liars and crooks. They are lowlifes who tried leech everyone they came in contact with. If you had heard about this family somewhere else, and it had nothing to do with MJ. You would have agreed with me that theyre garbage.

Heres another gem from the same family:

"The mother of the boy who alleged Michael Jackson molested him has pleaded no contest to one count of welfare fraud in California and will bypass jail time.

Janet Arvizo has agreed to pay more than $8,600 in restitution to Los Angeles County, The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday."

Do these not sound like the kind of people that would lie for money?

"Yes I sleep naked with little boys, but it's just about love and not sexual". I believe this was close to his (?) documented statement. I don't care about his show biz prowness. The puke was a horrible human being. I don't care how well he could sing and prance. He is in a better place and I know where it is.
