This is what the gun control advocates deem as a "crime stopping promise".
Can they not see the loopholes in this. Sure in theory it is a good idea, and as a law abiding citizen i don't have a problem with owning a gun that will microstamp. That is with the exceptions that i would definately have to make sure that every single casing that i shot was accounted for. It would be as simple as someone picking up one of my casings and dropping it at a crime scene.
Sure, if there is a bullet to analize, it would prove not to be fired from my weapon. Maybe, maybe not.
Are all ballistics tests 100% accurate? I am not that certain. Too much is left up to analysts interpretation.
Statistics say that 60% of gun related crime involves a handgun. I would like to know what percentage of that figure is from "legally owned" handguns.
This kind of meager attempt at gun control has almost no effect on anyone besides the law abiding citizen.
Check this out.

since i am a gun tinkerer, methinks(one word)i could remachine the firing pin,and the barrel to remove the laser etching.anyone agree?as far as stamped brass,i would think a good run thru the brass tumbler would help with etched cases

very true. that would not be hard to do at all, but if this was mandated then all the criminals would have to do is remove it as well. meaning you would probably be criminally liable if you were caught doing it. simply put, this is another bull shit attempt by lawmakers that will simply do nothing to prevent anything.

It seems the politicians never have been to a machine shop. Do they still teach shop at Havard? Even wear and tear will ruin the microstand- it is a metal part prone to corrosion and wear?
But once again, criminals will find a way around it. If you know you are gonna do something illegal, you will be prepared. Only the stupid criminals would not be and they are getting caught now, getting weak sentences....etc.
Legal gun owners are the only ones to be affected because we will pay the taxes and additional costs involved.
My cousin is a NY trooper and told me NY has explored having outside companies price firearm confiscation costs. Microstamping is another study they studied.
So how many back door ways can they get our firearms. Ammo, meaningless registration. I have my guns fuck off New York State....get the irresponsible degenerates and leave us alone.
