More on Ted Kennedy from his news conference
Vindicated after all these years, Sen. Kennedy explains how his car was also struck by a flock of Canada geese on a bridge in Chappaquiddick. "This pilot's only mistake was that he didn't wait 24 hrs before notifying his attorney." |

One theory promoted by Jack Olsen (a crime writer, now deceased, who lived on Bainbridge Island), among others, was that Kennedy wasn't even in the car. It had stopped along side of the road and was approached by an off-duty but in uniform security guard. Kennedy, fearing an attempt on his life, hid in the bushes and told Mary Jo to drive on. She was rather short and couldn't see over the steering wheel of this big Lincoln. She drove off the bridge--alone. Kennedy did not even know what happened until later.

Did'nt Jack Olsen right a book about Claude Dallas? The mountain man who killed two federal officers?

was the title of that one. He wrote a bunch of 'true crime' stories. He lived two houses down from a friend of mine on the Island. His daughter used to babysit for this family. She would arrive in their Lexus---only on Bainbridge!!
