I have my eye on two of these in particular on gunbroker, this one in the picture is a Polish mfg piece. According to the seller he has never fired it and when he bought it it was still packed in cosmoline. I notice pricing on these tends to be all over the place but as this one is very clean, I would be willing to pay a little more, the bidding right now is $130.

What are you guy's opinions on this subject?

All I can say is, can you ever have too many guns?

Nothing is as risky as certain failure.

I agree with Hamp, you can't have too many guns. I just wished I had a cheaper hobby I liked.

I was looking for a response i did about SKS's and can't find it.. In the thread docket mentions that Cabalas have them for 100.. I mention that J&G guns out of Prescott, and a regular 4 pg contributer to SGN have them for 69.. I realize that theres a huge diffrence in condition, but sorta wonder if that might not work the other way around..

I personally like the old war horses.. At any rate check J&G for prices on 7.62X54 (and X39) ammo.. I'm on Glorias computer as mine is sleeping so not close to thier flyer.. but remember thier ammo price on 7.62X39 was 1k rnd case (122gr jhp non C.) for 119 bucks..

are you sure that price for 7.62x39 isn't for 500 rds??? Thats about what 500 rds usually costs. 1k rds would be about $100 more. If that price IS for 1k rds, thats really cheap!

nagant pricing

I've seen them go from $50-$200 depending on the condition. Some of the original sniper 91/30's with original glass and bent bolt go for $500-$600. I personally would pay a little more to get a really nice one. I like the fact that the one shown is un-fired by the current owner and still covered in cosmoline. That cosmoline will be a bitch to get off, but at least you know he didn't fire some corrosive 1950's surp ammo through it, then throw it in his closet.

You should look into the M38 and M44 also. I really like the M44 with the attached bayonet. It has quite a bit of "cool factor", and kicks like a raped ape. Both the carbines look like flame throwers in low light, and you'll definitely feel the 7.62x54 in your chest. All nagants are great shooters.

Snake, I am nothing

if not persistent, I should get it as long as the price doesn't go into the stratosphere. I got another six says, we will see where it goes.
