National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Bill Introduced In U.S. House Friday, February 25, 2011 Last week, H.R. 822, was introduced in the U.S. House by Representatives Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) and Heath Shuler (D-N.C.). The measure would allow any person with a valid state-issued concealed carry permit to carry a concealed firearm in any state that issues concealed firearm permits, or that does not prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms. A state's laws governing where concealed firearms may be carried would apply within its borders. The bill also applies to Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and U.S. territories. H.R. 822 would not create a federal licensing system. Rather, it would require the states to recognize each others' carry permits, just as they recognize drivers' licenses and carry permits held by armored car guards. Rep. Stearns has introduced such legislation since 1995 read more here http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=6331 i tried being reasonable,i didn't like it,

I just wrote my Rep on this one, looks like it is still in the House Judiciary committee according to OpenCongress.org. Hopefully they get around to this Bill soon!

You have to pass a state AND federal background check in order to get a CWP...so reciprocity makes sense. Most of the problems (in my understanding) with state-to-state reciprocity laws have to do with bureaucratic issues and the rather myopic view that one state's training requirements are somehow superior to another state's.

have a law to make states recognize our right to carry. But then, it doesn't make sense that we have to apply for a permit to exercise our right.
Oh well, until we can get America back, this is a good thing. I am writing my senators and representative.
