depends on your state laws. Here in Arizona we can buy one thru an FFL who has a Class 3 license. Background check is much more severe on the buyer, takes 6 to 8 weeks to get one and I believe it there is a $300 tax stamp that you have to buy to own one. But check MS rules. In MS I think you can get them off the shelf at the Piggly Wiggly...

You will have to optain a class 3 liscense/stamp through the federal govt, not state. Go to any gun store that sells class 3 weapons, and they will have the paper work that you will need to submit.

Do all states allow you to have a Class 3?

I know that different states have different laws about what types of firearms/accessories they will allow. Here is a a list of which states allow machine guns, suppressors, short barrel shotguns and rifles, AOW (any other weapon), and DD (distructive device, i.e explosives etc...) and what restrictions they have on them. I think the NFA made the class 3 a federal liscense.

what ever you think

I don't know any MS laws. I was just providing a link that SGC has on their site. I would assume that they post correct information though. I would double check the gunshow commando's statement with someone who owns a reputable shop in the area just to be safe.

The tax stamp is only $200 for the silencer and you will have to pay $200 for the full auto AR-15.

Being legit is the big issue here. First, you don't buy a NFA item from an individual. You may find someone that has what you want but you need to go through a class 3 dealer. Don't even think about buying an unregistered full-auto from a guy for $2K. I have been approached over the years and it isn't worth it. I'm too old to survive 20 years in the house! Be aware that what you are looking for will approach 5 figures. Also, it's a good idea to find a gunuine M-16. Many semi pieces were legally converted before the ban and the one thing they don't offer (at least the ones I have seen) is the 3 shot burst. For me that's a big deal.

To purchase a class 3/NFA weapon from a private owner, it has to be transferred by a Class 3 FFL holder/SOT. The owner basically sells the gun to the dealer, who then sells it to you. The 6 to 8 week wait period may be a bit long, as the BATFE says their new system has reduced the time to about 28 days. This was a few weeks prior to the election, so of course that may be different. crazham, if you are in Tucson, look at Black Weapons Armory, I think it's on Pima St, but I'm not positive. I went in and they had a few supressors and even a Robar .50 bolt rifle package for 9,200 bucks. They're small, but they have lots of "cool guy gear".
