Hello

I would like to buy a good assult rifle. I dont mind buying used for a better price. The served in the Army so I am very familar with the M16.
What do you recommend?
where should I look to buy?

Can I have a fully automatic weapon sent to me from overseas and register here with a class 3?

Thanking you in advance for your time and advise!

A bit of advice

I personally would stick with semi-auto instead of going with a class 3 liscense. Unless you are rich and can afford to feed a full-auto stick with semi. I do not believe you can bring one into the US anyway after the ban in I believe it was 1986.
Buy yourself an AR15, these you can find legally all over, with the Messiah getting into office the prices are elevated.

Welcome, Nice guy

No, you can't have a class 3 firearm shipped to you from oversea. Hillbilly is right about that. A full auto M-16 is going to cost you around $10,000 and up. The AR-15 are a lot cheaper and easier to get. Welcome to the site and have fun.

I agree with the AR series. It's hard to beat a weapon platform you are already familiar with. Ammo prices have skyrocketted but 223 is still cheaper than 308. If you're willing to spend the money, go with the M1A like Reaper suggested. I would probably sell my sisters into prostitution for an M1A squad scout rifle if they weren't hookers already, but with over 200 AR mags already in my arsenal, the AR was the logical choice for me.

I like the sks because its simply rifle to use.
Very easy to clean it would shoot when place under sand or water (I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY ONE TO PLACE RIFLE IN ANYTHING) then if you want step above the sks go with the AK-47 REMEMBER THE AMMO USE FOR THE SKS AND AK-47 IS 7.62X39 AMMO
the problem with these 2 rifles is that the ammo is start to become hard to find and parts to these rifles are also hard to find too.
So one question you could ask yourself when choosing between SKS/AK-47 or AR-15 is which have better supply of ammo and parts to the public
Remember one thing too that buying ammo in large bulk is the cheap way to go and do it quick as possible

an AR Vote Here

Man I'd love to have a Springfield M-14 Match rifle! But since my gun allowance doesn't cover it, I would go with the AR also know as "THOSE EVIL BLACK GUNS" by the anti's. There's a shit load of parts out there for them and as runawaygun has said the ammo is cheaper. Get the right parts and install them and you would be surprised at their accuracy. That's if you can spend the $$$$ for one. If you have to buy your rifle on the cheap, then an SKS would be a good starter.

AK-47. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every motherfucker in the room, accept no substitutes.

Agree with ugly

The AK-47 is a bear. I have 3 AR's and 1 AK. The AK would be my shit hitting the fan weapon. But I prefer to shoot with my AR because like you I was brought up on it. I could shoot off a hair at 200 with it too. The AK accuracy (might just be me) is really rough after 100 yards. But if your under a situation, chances are you be in close quarters....

You aren't going to crawl through the Mekong Delta, or take Iwo Jima, so the reliability argument for the AK as far as a weapon of liberty in the hands of American citizens isn't really a valid one. It really all comes down to what you want the weapon for. An SKS will allow the guerila to acquire a better weapon after a successful ambush. My personal choice is a Bushmaster M4, as I have a ridiculous number of magazines and I can keep my proficiency with my assigned weapon by practicing with my personal one. I am accustomed to the manual of arms and location of controls of the M4, so that is my choice. Ammunition compatibility is also a huge consideration. If your weapon is for plinking or playing weekend warrior like MannyG, then the AK is a great toy. Otherwise, I say go with the system you are likely to find on the battlefield so you already have plenty of ammo to feed captured weapons with and you are more proficient with it than the enemy. Okay, here goes the disclaimer. I AM NOT ADVOCATING THE VIOLENT OVERTHROW OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT OR THE ASSASSINATION OF PUBLIC OFFICIALS.

The AR is a great platform because that is what the bad guys are going to be shooting also, so you can pick ammo up off of the fallen. I AM NOT ADVOCATING THE VIOLENT OVERTHROW OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT OR THE ASSASSINATION OF PUBLIC OFFICIALS

haha dont worry about ak shooters like me, we will still be picking up the enemies guns and ammo. i have shot ar's plenty of times, but i think i am more accurate with ak's and i prefer the 7.62x39 than the .223

All three!

I own AR,AK,and a couple of SKS's,couldn't live without any of em.Buy at least one of all three. But if you can't have all three remember,AR=accuracy,AK-SKS=knock em down power. And you can deck out an AK or Sks with pretty much the same bells and whitsles as an AR platform.
