Sarah Palin's asset's were tallied to some $1,000,000 USD. If I were to combine my entire neighborhood, we might get close to that. And, whats more, she earned a measly six figure income before even becoming governor. Clearly she's middle class and the rest of us living off of half or less of her income are just poor. And she also obviously knows the struggle of middle class people, since raising five kids ( One mentally impaired ) with both parents present is as difficult as raising three kids on $25,000 a year with one parent present.

What I'm getting at is that they obviously should have picked my other as the vice presidential nominee, since she is approximately four times more middle class then Sarah Palin, and qualifications listed include "Knowing the cost of milk and bread".

John McCain, on the other hand, would have been the oldest candidate elected to office in our nations history. Given how quickly the job ages people ( For instance, compare George W. Bush from 2000 and Bill Clinton from 1992 to George W. Bush and Bill Clinton now ) and McCain's already questionable health, it would've been very wise to gamble on Sarah Palin potentially becoming our first female president. A candidate of comparable age is Ronald Reagan, who had an undeniably easier life then John McCain, and Reagan was later suspected of actually having Alzheimer's disease while in office. John McCain is currently 72, and could theoretically have been 80 by the time he left office, assuming he made it that far and was re-elected.

Thats not a "policy" issue, or an "experience" issue. Thats an issue of putting a 72 year old man of questionable health into office with a vice president who would be unable to lead our country if he were to pass in office.

George H W Bush signed the assault weapons import ban after making it very public during his campaign that he had become a life member of the NRA. He lied to us. His son signing the USA Patriot act showed a complete disregard for civil rights as well. It's not a Republican/Democrat problem, it's an abuse of power problem.

Certain things, such as health care, should be made within the reach of all citizens. Personal determination cannot help a person or their family shoulder the cost of chronic illness or crippling disability. I'm not saying that every person with a missing leg or long term hospital stay should be excepted from financial responsibility, but I cannot in good conscience say that I consider it acceptable for people to be unable to afford medical care.

Other things, such as long term unemployment, pre-mature social security checks, and disability paid to people who have the means to support themselves need to go.

I have seen universal health care. Military medical facilities are a great indicator of how it will be. Doctors who don't care, hospital administrators who decide what procedures or prescriptions can be done based on budgeting concerns, time limits on how long a docotr can see a patient before moving on to the next one. It will only get worse if people get it all free, because people will clog the system by going in for every little sniffle when they would treat it at home if it costs them. It is not a good idea.

But certainly they are not 'doing well' under Obama. Anything they are doing is in spite of him.

In terms of Bush invading Afghanistan. That was a brilliant move. Al Quaeda was then a strategic threat to the United States, moving with impunity, with a well oiled financial machine and a solid base of operations with the Taliban. Al Quaeda is now a shadow of its former self. many of its leaders are dead or living in hiding. Osama no longer enters palaces at will with fists full of money to hand out in bribes. Al Quaeda is still a tactical threat, but not a strategic one. Where they once shipped high production quality videos out to al Jazerra with much advanced notice and fan fare, the best they can do know is a scratchy cassette tape that suddenly appears with who knows whose voice on it.
