new and confused....

guys and gals..i hope im posting in the right room with my question...if not i apologize ...right now...sorry!! ok..here's the question,
i was looking to get a less than lethal weapon...i was looking at air guns but ..im a looks guy...by that i mean, if the gun doesnt look real to me i probably will jump at whoever is pointing it at me...so with that in mind ...im sure there are others who MAY feel the same way..now, i read around and see that some spots say that your average gun, will shot rubber ammo..which is what i want..then i read in other spots that i would have to mod the gun for rubber ammo...being new to the whole gun thing...im going crazy...
so i see now, from this site that there's a glock 17t..training gun that will fire these projectiles...but the damn thing is blue!!! once again...i see a blue gun pointed at me ill take my chances that it aint real...or that im about to be tased....anyhow....
what would be the difference in me using a "reg" glock 17 as opposed to the g17??? i mean i do see the 17 is gas propelled, so will it have the same kick or not??..i mean if im going to spend money on a gun, i want the person to drop so i can pounce on him...i dont want to kill anyone, but i do want to stop them in their tracks if need be..
well i really hope you guys can help..and like i said if i was in the wrong room..im sorry, ifyou can email me any helpful answers..pls hit me up at ramonrivera34@yahoo.com thanks again...till next time

Carry a friggin brick. Are you oppsed to saving yours or your families lives? Just curious. Unless a gun is loaded it is useless. Don't know about no gas powered glocks. I guess mine is gas powered, super heated gas in a 9mm Glock 19.

put it this way you shoot me with a rubber ball get ready for some lead. Here's the facts thugs don't love you, and most carry real guns. Get off this I don't want to kill someone crap and get a real gun period.

Just my 2 cents.

If it looks like a gun, it might be a gun, and that means your attacker will try to take you out first before you can harm him. If he has a gun and you pull out something with rubber bullets, you will be dead.

If you want something non-lethal, try some strong mace and just hope to hell it doesn't enrage your attacker. I carry mace on my dog walks because it is a benign neighborhood and I don't really want to hurt another dog permanently.

If you are really serious about your own self-defense, you need to change your mindset.

I can guarantee your gona learn some stuff that will help you in life. Im being 100% honest here, assuming by your post your sorta new at the whole gun thing, and thats fine, we all were once. You have a great sence of humor and thats issue one in life, stick around and pick up on some stuff that might well save your life, and at the least make it a safer one. Not one of us is sane.. for real not a single one of us, but we do know some shit about this subject, and if hang out a bit you will be a better man for it..

4rayray...I'm going to post a link to a website called Firequest that has some ALS ammo for .45, .40S&W and 9mm that shoots rubber projectiles. They should fire out of any regular real gun. So, check it out, and just get a real Glock 17. That way you can have real ammo for the house or whatever. Hope this helps. website: http://www.firequest.com/catalog/less_lethal_pistolmoreinfo.html

4rayray, no problem. Just remember, if your not LEO, that gun shouldn't be coming out unless you are in fear of your life, no matter if it's less than lethal ammo or real ammo. They will get you on a brandishing a firarm case if you just pull the thing out for any old reason. Good luck, be careful.

wheres the love??? my whole point was to find out what the difference was between the two guns...for the simple fact of where i live..your state(where ever that is) may be different as to who carries what around...unfortunatly i cant carry live rounds when apprehending someone..yeah it sucks ...but i cant change the law..i have to work with it...and it allows me to use ltl force for my protection...thats all this whole thing started with...now would i pump a few into someone coming after my family in my home..you bet ur ass off with a thought...now does that make you guys feel better???

4rayray...It's Ok man. You haven't been around long enough to know how we give each other a hard time in here. Heard the saying "we only hurt the ones we love" well, that applys in here. The whole throwing things comments was just a joke. If less than lethal ammo is what you need, then that's great, you got to do what you got to do, no problems. But Ebear really is a whore.

Nobody likes to be busted messing with anything wearing antlers. By the way that poem was perfect, really well done. Also the advice to ray is on the money, my fear for someone using less than lethal force is that its more apt to be used, and a good way to get shoot if its in the form of a handgun.

Thanks Greg Az, glad you liked the poem. I had alot of fun writing it. The only reason Ebear is upset over the poem is, he is afraid the sheep might read it and get jealous. And I agree with you, people with less than lethal ammo, might be more apt to use it and therefore get into trouble.

our agency used them (az dept of corrections) as do all agencys for training, and think you will find that they are not capable of firing, at least ours (the colored ones) were not. The only thing is that you could tell pretty easy by the weight, so if your fooled in that respect maybe they have changed things since retirement..

so if i understand these posts correctly you are allowed to carry a gun with a less than lethal bullet in it? and you are in NYC? Nassau County? and you want this for the "escalation of violence" clause? have you attempted to get a CCP? do you know what your fellow recovery agents are carrying? sorry for all the questions but i'm just trying to understand the restrictions you are working under.

The blue glock you're seeing is a simunitions gun. The paint marker it fires is a marking round used for force on force training that indicates hits. It stings a bit, leaves a small red mark, but does not hurt enough to stop someone. You want a less-lethal round, look into the FN 303 pepperball launcher. I don't know if civilians can have it or not. Less-lethal weapons and munitions almost all rely on pain and psychological intimidation to gain compliance. If you encounter a hardass tough guy or a subject with experience with the stuff, you will end up with a broken jaw and the device wedged up your butt. Nearly everything like what you want is a distance weapon and cannot be effectively employed at contact ranges. The one exception to all this is the Tazer. I've been tazed and can tell you it takes an act of god to fight back during that ride. Not the little shitty stun guns you see in gun magazines, look for the Tazer brand. Civilian Tazers have a 10 second ride which is more than enough to gain physical control over a subject.

for fun

I used to be a hound hunter.used hounds to hunt coons and cougars and even a bobcat or two.laws changed here in my state and it just wasnt fun anymore.got rid of my dogs...Anyhoo,when a bunch of us would run dogs together we would carry cattle prods.Hounds are hyper fighting hunting dogs.how else you gonna break up a dog fight at the base of a tree with a screaming cougar in it?or if 7 dogs are in a fight with a cougar and the dogs are losing?start zapping them!it hurts them but it dont kill them.beats going in with a pistol and shooting dogs and getting your ass ate!anyhoo,a cattle prod runs about 25 bucks at a feed store.get one.zap your drinkin buddies with it.hurts like a bitch, can be fun and will put meth heads on the ground...DONT ASK!
