Sure you guys have seen the back and forth posts on this.. bottom line is St. JM Browning did a post yesterday 01/04/12 that was really good, titled POD.. At that time i suggested maybe we could do this Post of the Day on a regular basis..

Sam then stepped in and used his presidential powers (these are granted under the constitution, and 3V (vast vague, and vulgar) In his post he sorta slllliiiiddd this over to yours truly (has no power.. including his own residence sigh..) So the first QOD

Sam's.. Told me i had to or he'd delete the cross..

I don't think we have to "go all structured" and send these to any of us (sorry skipper) one of those anyone can do it.. "IF" we all want it..

St. J had another idea i really liked about recognizing great posts.. lets face it we actually do have some good ones .. LLE, and ISD both had posts last week that were "pier revue" quality, and this is more about what brings us here..

The really funny, (not holy or noth'n) or wise, or thoughtful posts that make us laugh or think.. I know i've read more good stuff on here for free ..by all.. than most "TIME".. "The Atlantic" .."midget porn monthly"..

Think its a great idea.. but how would we do it.. and for what its worth this should have been done a couple years ago with SamD.. im serious here. not sucking up,. Think the success of this place did start with all those 30K some number total posts of Sams..

Anybody have any thoughts on this. a weekly monthly, great idea by St; J, that maybe we should think about.. guess either screen it or send it to Sam..

In the spirit of above.. Thought maybe we could combine St. J's idea (honoring posts) as well as the whole QOD thing by just paste copying a great quote from our own venue.. Seems like a good idea to me..

Both were (honoring and the QOD) from St. J.. If you guys want its just a matter of going thru and picking out a good one from the day before. I nominate either St. J.. or Sam (that whole el Presidente for life thing).. It's a matter of recognizing both humor and intellect.. and either of these guys would be great.. So for today.. i Just finished reading archive.

ISD had some choice words that to me our wise, and the type of thought i come here to read..
following is an excerpt from a post last night relating to an A/D at an indoor rang;

it seems to me that they figure Romloid has the best chance of beating Obummer, not necessarily that he would be best for the country. guess im not breaking any truth in advertisement laws . Yep if you do an edit, everyone else is like WTF.

War story on truth in advertisement thing;.. my first "counseling session" was the same day i went to work with the female Inmates..

Walk on the yard and right away i have this REALLY huge gal running out to meet me (most yards the I/M can move around the yard).. "stuff" was jiggling everywhere.. she comes to a stop all red faced and upset.. says I/m Cantremember just told me i'm a fat fucking white bitch.. Other Inmates or shaking their head.. As i was brand new all the I/M are watching this..I'm not that quick but sometimes even a lousy batter gets a slow one right over the plate..

Said "well i can't write her up for lying now can i".. she storms off to see her counselor who promptly had me called into the Capt's office for "guidance with women inmates"

to bolster my supply. But all is not lost, I got a $3.84 per month raise on my SS. To celebrate we went to Tubac Country Club last dine and dined sumptously on 12 oz Dry Aged New York Strip, a damn fine Merlot, Artichoke and Cheese Rissotto, grilled veggies, but alas, due to the economy I had to skip dessert.
Tubac CC is where they filmed the movie "Tin Cup" Kostner, Russo and Cheech Marin starring.
All in all my $3.84 raise was well spent.

Hard one, as a bunch of worthies, but the whole "entitlement" post (yep started as American Military, but we DO both hijacks and ADD so for the most part it became entitlement..

I've heard school teachers complain that with their education they should get the same pay as engineers and architects since the education requirements are roughly the same. I say quit teaching, become and engineer!

A Marine squad was marching north of Fallujah when they came upon an Iraqi terrorist who was badly injured and unconscious. On the opposite side of the road was an American Marine in a similar but less serious state. The Marine was conscious and alert and as first aid was given to both men. The squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.

The Marine reported, I was heavily armed and moving north along the highway here, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent. We saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road. I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein was a miserable, lowlife scum bag who got what he deserved. He yelled back that Barack Obama is a lying, good-for-nothing, left wing Commie who isn't even an American.

And, there we were, in the middle of the road, shaking hands, when a truck hit us.

That quote from Washington fits really well.. We watched a documentary on Monuments today, and the back ground on (all of them actually) the Washington monument was fascinating.

The first of the "great" monuments were familiar with. Started before the civil war, completed after.. Climbed it with a couple other guys on a weekend liberty to DC.. The sort of thing you do and then years later think .. sheesh why didn't i pay more attention..

Know i've said this before, but if you don't have the Smithsonian channel.. sure would recommend it..

They're more scared of me than I am of them. Sure can't tell by the hair on the back of my neck. I don't mind them during the day, I chase them then they stay away for a long time. Going out to get firewood in the dark with them in the trees on they edge of my yard, nervous. Being mostly deaf I can't tell which direction the snorting, yipping and rustling of leaves and stuff comes from.

BRB, gotta get Mrs Daisy busy bringing in fire wood, it's gettin cold in here.

Coyotes ... So different out in the boonies.. We had them in town, and of course i've seen them all thru AZ.. but there scarce out here..Let me rephrase that.. not scarce, but seeing them is much rarer than in the city.. We hear but seldom see them.. Funny as i was usta seeing them in the city.. they lose their fear of man i guess.. anyway we see dear every day, and almost always a family of Javelina drift thru in the evening.. but we only hear the coyotes..

Daisy a month ago i would have told you no way a coyote would take a Man.. but just saw a documentary where that sure did happen.. If anyone knows a sound more spine tingling let me know.. i haven't found it..

That tells me he was one "liberal" I could respect and honor as a great American, even when he fired MacArthur, and even when he wanted to extend my active duty time an additional year.

i went to Aragon high school,then went into Marines and my mother and sister moved over the bridge to San Lorenzo/ Hayward.They still live there,i chased a girl up here to MN,mule died and i have been stuck here ever since.

My first mosin I used mineral spirits. My second one I used the citrus degreaser because I didn't have any mineral spirits. My first mosin took me 2-3 hours to clean. My second mosin took me 45 minutes to clean. You don't even have to soak the parts, just spray them down good and it falls right off.
Don't waste your time with mineral spirits, get it cleaner faster by using a citrus cleaner degreaser spray.

Had a friend from Brownsville...Mike Huckabee.. yep just like the Gov.. Mike would always put some crazy phrase together.. Think he just made it up.. I had always thought i was named for an Uncle or Greg peck maybe.. Nope heres the deal.. birth certificate shows i was born in Gregg County, Gregg county Hospital.. Then i remembered in like 8 grade changing it to one G..

I love Texas. I wish I could say I was born here. Nope. Born in Indiana and moved here when I was 12. Almost 30 years now, and some Texans still call me a yankee. I don't know anything but Texan. :D
Longview is a great place. Been there a time or two. Great Texas Balloon Race is in Longview.
Texas is so big, we've got different dialects and cultures within our state. East Texas piney woods, way different than the west Texas roughnecks. Central Texas hill country and north Texas blackland prairies. Then there are the old German settlements around the Guadalupe like New Braunfels. Great stuff. A guy could spend a lifetime just exploring this state and enjoying it's food culture and geography.

Her team won in double OT by one basket.
I was having a good night until Stella & I stopped at a Wal*Mart we'd never been to. I picked up a 6 of Ale and a bottle of wine and a box of .380. Stella picked up 3 pair of shoes.
At about 10:58PM we were in the check out line when a casheir told me "we can't sell that to you, it's after 11" I live in a dry county & didn't know about a 11PM cut off for alcohol sales.
Anyway she explained it's a state law so I looked @ Stella's watch, 10:59, the clerk points to the clock on her register just as it turns 11:01, I am smoked! The smart-ass could have said "we have 2 minutes to check you out" but no.
So anyway, the line I was in was stalled, we waited several minutes and nothing happened so I told Stella "that's it, I've had all of this place I can handle" we left Ale, Wine, A box of .380 and several pair of shoes at the register, now I have an upset stomach and a rotten bad temper.
Too bad Dollar General does not sell booze and ammo!

Other than that I'm having a great night :<))

In my experience, the sooner a teenager can be led or shoved away from the High School BS, peer pressure, my life is ruined type crap the better. Learning that possesions can be gone just as easily as they can be attained is a part of life. Raging hormones and hurt feelings and hurtful words come with the territory, no matter how good or bad of a parent you are. Scarred for life? Yep, I am. Every scar I carry represents a lesson learned the hard way and won't be forgotten. Some are emotional, some are physical, just like each of you carries. Pleasant? Teen years are anything but pleasant for child or parent. It's a tough time and both sides make mistakes because both sides are confused. Fuck the laptop (and runaway's truck). We don't live with the girl, we don't live with the father. Maybe his venting on the web and blasting the laptop saved her a beating or worse.

Get whatever flavor of rear sight you want. You can get a magpul BUIS for $40 or Daniel Defense or Troy fixed for $60.
Slap it on any lower group that uses quality parts $250-300. I would look at BCM (they offer cosmetic blem lowers), LMT, Spikes, Ranier etc. but there are others.
The fit/finish may not be safe queen quality but it will be reliable.

The party went great! All us "kids" were there. (It would have taken a hospital reciept for Mom to issue a pass) All the Grandkids but 2 made it and a passle of great grandkids were there. Visitors from the community made it a good time. Extended family came from as far away as 300 miles to celebrate with us! My oldest and her husband came in from Denver (winner of the longest trip award) and we had a hella good time over the extended weekend.

Rain kept us off the range till Sunday but we made up for it then. SIL got a crossbow and hadn't shot it yet. We got it dialed in @ 50 yds. I am really impressed with how accurate it was. We sent a LOT of lead downrange as well. On Monday we fired up the skid steer and with minimal tree removal and maximum backstop relocation we have the range set up really well now. Pistol station from 10 to 30 yards and a rifle lane out to 120 yds. (can get 200 very easily, no trees to remove, just some brush and cactus. Next step is a rail for cans and bottles and a dueling tree.I need some advice on a material to stop a 16" bolt fired from a 150lb pull crossbow. Any suggestions? We were using an old hot tub cover (3" of styrofoam vynil covered with a "hinge" in the middle so it was doubled over) that held up very well but the arrows imbedded past the fletching at distances less than 40 yds. So, that's my excuse for not showing up lately : )

got a smile out of the "celebrity" status.. Yeah thats us huh.. The whole point of Saints P&Q was to give a little "bump" to those posts or quotes that make our read here more reward, than rant..

Think at the beginning we were kidding about being "quote worthy" and his idea grew out of that, to me it's just another way to enjoy the site..

On the auto correct.. surprised this is automatic, and you don't have some type of prompt as for example sp check.. Can you turn it off.. Is there anyway i can blame any of my errors on it..
