I have always thought of the guns I own as usefull tools, either for work, self defense etc., but last week I bought myself a mouse gun for which I have no practical use for. Does this mean I am in the beginnings of becoming a gun nut? I think you guys might be a bad influence on me. |

you're a gun nut. You joined an online forum to discuss guns! Do you CCW? If so, the mouse gun has a purpose.

a 'mouse gun', I have a Taurus 738 tcp that's a great little pocket pistol which I carry on occasions when I have to dress up and tuck in my shirt, in which my normal CCW would be visible.

I don't carry at this time, but I am considering it. The new gun is a Taurus PT22, might work as a last ditch weapon. If I did carry it would be my glock 23. I am going to apply for a C&R license as I like older military weapons. I read online that South Korea has reapplied to sell some 30,000 M1 Garands to US. Maybe the government might allow as election time is getting close. Hopefully will be able to buy one at a better price. Don,t understand why the gov blocked the sale the last time. Seems like a win-win all around. government collects import tax, korea said it will use the proceeds to upgrade their troops weaponry, and we can own a piece of history for a reasonable price

yep.. but the story i heard has them as 30 carbines not Garands.. it was initally approved by the out going Bush administration.. stopped by State (Hillary..no dont tell me) now the S korians have reapplied.. What it would mean is great prices on a good rifle..
luckybychoice
included,86,000 of them.

the article i saw said that "state" had nixed the original deal that had been ok'd by the Bush era BARTALPHABET dept.. and that the S Korean export group was trying to get a redo on the ruling.. Im positive that (least the article i saw) called them M-1 carbines..
So was this a miss print, are our we talking about both weapons.. your Secretary of Defense.. you're supposed to know this stuff..
luckybychoice
we are talking Garands and carbines, there is a possibility they can maybe get it done.I heard the numbers as 86,000 Garands and 22,000 carbines.I tried some "google foo" and got nothing new but i'm just getting started.

a bill is moving thru the house and senate authorizing the purchase, most people believe Obama will sign it if it gets to him.The bill is named the "collectable firearms protection act".

State Reconsiders Ban on Korean-Owned M-1 Garands
"The State Department announced Dec. 2 that it will re-consider its stance against allowing M-1 Garands into the United States if South Korea offers another sale.
“The Department will consider a new request from the Republic of Korea (ROK) to transfer its inventory of approximately 87,000 M-1 Garand rifles into the United States for sale on the commercial market,” a spokesperson at the U. S. Department of State said to Guns&Patriots on Dec. 2. “We have not yet received that request.”
“These M-1 Garand rifles date back as far as 1926 and remain a legacy of decades of U.S.-South Korean security partnership. The ROK intends to use the net proceeds of the sale, estimated to be between $2 million - $10 million depending on the condition of the rifles, to upgrade its Homeland Defense Mobilization Reserve components with more modern rifles,” said the spokesperson."

holds app.220,000 1911s,i'd like some verification on that before i believed it though,I did read that the last return of Garands from Greece took 4 years to put together,we are in year 2,going on 3 for this sale.I'll be getting one of each.

C&R licence, I got time.....I could use a proper 1911 as well.
Jeffashbyjr
How hard was it to get your C&R and if you don't mind how much was thinking of getting one oh and I just scored a 1911 and a 30 carbine from a friend of mine will post pics when I get home

not much different than CCP. It takes forever though, I think I waited four or five months before I received it and the application is THE weirdest thing that I have ever seen, typical government, you have to send a copy to your local LE as well.
