Welcome to Gunslot. I hope you enjoy the site. There are many, many great guys and girls on the site. Many have deep knowledge of firearms, and are very willing to share the knowledge with anyone who asks respectfully.

Thanks everyone. I have a few questions about what time of gun i should get for my wife to carry that is within my price range and is dependable? I do not have much experience with hand guns.
Reaper308
what is your price range? Are you looking for an auto or wheel gun? will she be carring it in her purse, or somewhere else?
HKBauer
and the other things that Reaper asked I would suggest looking at the S&W airweight series in .357. That is what I am getting my BH.
Vaquero
That was slick! :)

Ok, my budget is between 300 and 450. I would like to get a semi-auto and a 9mm. I have heard great things about the springfield xd and the taurus slim. Also, i have talked to a friend of mine and he mentioned an arcus pt98 dac. Yes something to carry would be nice. Thank you for your help!!!
Reaper308
XD is good. also check out a glock (19 or 26) and S&W M&P. They all make good compact 9mm's. they're in the $500 range new, unless you can find a smokin deal, but you can generally find them used in your price range. I'm really liking the FNX, but its DS/SA with an exposed hammer. The first ones I mentioned are all striker fired.

BellDaddy, my wife and I both have the Slim. They are great for concealed carry, short range shooting. Don't know about just target shooting. I have heard great things about the XD but don't have one. All my buddies love the Glocks.

I just got a S&W M&P compact 9mm and I love it, granted it's my 1st gun and I don't have a ton of shooting experience it was $525 before tax and had a rebate for 2 free mags. I've read and been told that the compact will accept the full size model's 17rnd mags but I haven't had a chance to try it myself. I know it's a bit higher than the price range you mentioned, but in my opinion it's well worth the extra $$'s
Reaper308
it's not a 9mm, and it not compact, but.... its a Glock 22 (fullsize .40), good cond, 3rd gen, night sights, $369
