Hey man, I know I (along with many others) joke a lot about Cali and its socialism. But on a serious note, I know it's your home, and there's a lot to love about it. I'm not under any delusion that the whole state is full of pinko commies. You know better than anyone that the real problem with Cali is the asshats in San Fran and LA and, even though they represent a geographical minority, their population tips the balance to the retarded side.

But all the talk about moving away I think (again, joking aside) is defeatist. I try to imaging if the same thing happened in Texas. What if the commies started overrunning us here and made it like Cali? In regards to the anti-liberty, pro-socialism laws. Would I just say, "Well, I guess it's time to leave."? I hope I wouldn't. I would hope I would stay and fight the bastards. Keep my vote in the state. Keep trying to correct people's ignorance. Maybe, if I saw it was a losing battle, maybe I would leave. But you, my friend, are in the good/bad situation of being on the front line. While I'm sitting here in a gun and capitalism friendly state talking about how things should be, you're embattled and representing. I know I'm getting kind of corny here, but we need you and guys like you to fight the good fight and keep spreading the truth in the places it's needed most.

BTW, the whole part of Texas getting overrun is happening. Not surprisingly, we are getting an flood of people from Michigan, Illinois, New York, California, etc. See the pattern? People leaving blue states for Texas.

I have two guesses on this. It's a good/bad situation. The good:

It's common sense, salt-of-the earth people tired of their state's crap and they want to live in a state that represents them better.

The bad:
It's the "others" who've fucked their state so bad and don't realize that their socialist entitlement mentality is what dragged it down, so they are moving to Texas, which hasn't been hurt as bad as most (because it's a gun and capitalism friendly state) and will drag it down with their ignorance.

But in my honest opinion, keep fighting for your state. But if you think it's in vain and can't be saved, do what's right by you. Just my 2¢.

saint re leaving cali

its not as much the laws that make me want to go,its the people in general, too many not enough open land and nice ones (people)are toooooo far apart,in that sense its a losing battle...been dreaming alaska for near a decade now,and ever since i went its the wild non human friendly place for me.ill keep moving north or east once i can,to get to better and better areas till i get to the great white north, where fellons can hunt, regular people can pack concealed, and anything goes as long as "we don't get called to come out there" the sheriff said.

I've thought about Alaska or Montana or Wyoming myself. I like the way they do. But I have an aversion to what I like to call, that god-forsaken white shit. Also known as snow.

BTW, did you see my turkey pic? I think next year will be a good one.

lol, no I didn't get one. Just had a bunch on my trail cam last month.

This one was about an hour after I left this area when it was season and I was hunting:

Jay - the turkey
This was an hour after I left this area. Doh!

Like I said, there was nothing but turkey on the cam. A lot of 'em. Even when I was getting the card from the cam, there was a gobbler near by.

If you can come out next spring, I'll have you as a guest to hunt some. Maybe you can show me how bad I'm screwing up. :)

smart saint..

really is good logic.. i think about it in reference to the guy at the gun store who was "max'd" out.. he got real emotional about it.. Wonder if a lot of that was because he did give in.. Hard to say.. i know that for him, and a lot of people their is a limit.. Were going to wind up paying for CA's bankrupt economy.. think we all know that, and it will make it harder.. Think how were all going to feel when (due to their stupid tax, and social positions) we have to bail them out .. just like Greece.. The answer is if more of the good people move out then it's going to be even more difficult..

Yeah Greg

It's going to happen. Unfortunately, entropy is a firm constant in this universe. The idiots are going to spread. They will start taking over other states. They've already implanted themselves in the public school system. It's just a matter of time. The real question is, can we survive it, and will the survivors have good common sense instilled in them. Personally, I think so. That's why they'll survive. It's nature giving the human herd a thinning.

the voters who punch the ballot to save their goodies. How do you beat a politician at the ballot box when he has bought enough welfare zombies to keep him in office the rest of his life?
College tuition, health care, homosexual privileges, abortion on demand, racial preferences and a million other give aways.
As long as the politicians have OUR tax dollars to spend buying votes we will never win. Ted Kennedy, Barney Fag Frank are only 2 of those who were in national office for life or til they retire and enjoy the millions of dollars they scooped up while getting paid BY US. The REAL PROBLEM is at state level as California has shown.
Too bad they are so patient and let the creeping rot take over before it's recognized. It would be easy to clean up the mess if they'd just attack us in the street like NAZI brown shirts. I think we all would be more at ease with that, or is it just me?

californi libs don't see themselves as nazis, they see themselves as hippies or front trench liberation fighters (we know that the liberation they preach is as real as a mirage, but they are thirsty and eager to drink the sand of their own self deception and fabricated lies)but i digress.....they wouldn't do something as blatant as forcibly/physicaly attack those unwilling, they will win if they win by pure deceit and time multiplied by misgivings, and good intentions.WOW,that sounds quite poetic,if i get famous later y'all heard it first.hahahaha.joking aside though i live in a semi rural citified area that 10 yrs ago was a small town and 20 yrs ago was a nothing small town with feed stores along what is now a walmart and restaurant chains mingled with close to shopping apartments.where did it all come from?bay area/sac/la type people looking for cheaper real-estate with less problems.........they couldn't handle just being here, they needed more shopping, more restaurants more rules more traffic lights more bridges to cross highways and rivers, longer nature trails accessible to everyone including blind midget quadrapaligic homosexuals in wheelchairs, they needed drinking fountains every 2 mi and now its barely natural at all.
theres my rant for the nite on that subject.

Jay Sedler-re Alaska

Used to live and work in Alaska in the late 70's early 80's. back then you could still homestead and get acreage from the government. You could bring in a pistol and a rifle in checked airline baggage and expect it to arrive with you. Not in the day glo boxes with FIREARM emblazened all over it like now. Really enjoyed Alaska but I was 30 years tyounger then. Don't think I could handle the winters anymore. Biggest town I lived in was Yakutat. Back then no way in or out except by boat or airplane. One commercial flight a week in the winter, only one TV channel if you had a dish, no internet , no fresh food in the winter only frozen or freeze dried, last supply barge was sometime in October.Guys who smoked Marlboros were smoking Virginia slims or roll your owns until that first barge in the springtime. No police in town. We policed ourselves. If someone got too out of hand the locals would grab him up and radio Alaska troopers to fly in and take them back to Anchorage.Pretty much how would imagine the old West was. Also used to live and work out in the Aleutians but thats another story.

Do you hunt bow season also, or just rifle?

Just rifle. I'm not so good at stealth to be able to get close enough for a bow. :)

I had a blast bow hunting last year. Only got 1 turkey, but had fun. Trying to find a new place to hunt, lost out on normal area.

Might be a bit long winded but here goes. I went out to turkey hunt one spring (about 20 years ago) and left the truck and took an unusual route to the area I wanted to hunt. I had all the camo on and the face net. I had gone 300 yards or so in ninja mode when I realized I was standing in the middle of a large covey of Bob White Quail. I mean the birds were literally at my feet. I froze and watched as they milled around me clucking and scratching thinking to myself "this is so cool". Then it dawned on me, if I spook the quail and they flush, I'm busted. It took about 10 minutes for them to wander away far enough for me to comfortably resume my advance to my chosen spot. This was an afternoon hunt, full daylight. I felt pretty good about my "stealth mode" after that. Got a gobbler that day too! 10" beard.

I hunt in a t-shirt and jeans. Seeing how animals are colorblind, I only wear camo when hunting people. Think movement is more important.

Not the great white hunter here.. haven't even gott'n combined tags for a few years.. just fishing now, and not all that much of it.. Cool thing about having the "serious" hunter son-n-law.. He's got two mounts that (javalina, and antilope) just miss boone and crocket.. Actually pope and young on the Javalina.. Says what ronin says.. but doesn't do it.. His big thing is scent.. Goes as far down wind as he can.. only scopes into the wind.. Seems to work..

To get "focused" he plans the mount.. I love the Javalina, but ..you know... The Antilope is as big as his dear.. (mediam mule, the atilope is big daddy) H'es got 8 ducks now.. Amazing how great these come out and they do make great mounts, anybody that wants info on his taki pm me.. He's REAL good and REAL cheap, and those two words don't go together often. Thats on the Ducks, all his animal mounts are diffrent, and local to where he took the game..

Funny thing is he's not a gun enthusiast (more into bows)..knows his stuff, but it's all about the hunt for him.. (remi 7mag black stainless, and 870) don't know what the bow is, i could "just" get it to break over.. fires 3" groups off hand at 15 yds.. you guys have seen my 15 yd targets.. He's doing the same thing with a bow..
