New to the site
I came across this website a couple of weeks ago and finally joined. Looks like a good site for viewpoints, discussion, and information. I am active with shooting auto handguns from pocket .380's to 1911's and most everything in-bewteen but I like the 45's. I also really like my Glock 23 which is a 40 cal and my Sig P239, also a 40 cal. I also have auto rifles of various types including AK47's, SKS's, AR15's, 45 & 9mm carbines among them. I am looking forward to learning more from this site. |

Welcome to the site. I think you'll enjoy it. Lots of good talk about guns of all kinds, lots of good pictures, lots of free wheeling discussion. Many people with great first hand experience.

Hope you enjoy the ride and camaraderie.

Hope all are fine. Feel sorry for all the worker bees that have to go back tomorrow... I retired in 2000 at 57 and have never looked back. It is a great feeling doing nothing but what I want to do. Sometimes I get pissed when someome makes plans for me or an appt at 10:30 am. Oh well...

Going shooting tomorrow. Try out the Ruger 10/22. I sent it to greasypaws for final assembly and doing the trigger. 3.5 lb pull and smooth as glass. He zeroed in the scope for me as I have never owned one before. He fixed a couple of things on my Marlin Camp9. Greasypaws is one helluva gunsmith.
I will take some pics and do a write up on the conversion of the Ruger and all upgrades.

I have a marlin camp 9. a fine carbine I think.
have not shot it much-bought it about 20 years ago to go with my S&W.
gotta like the magazine compatibility.
In fact I found this website while looking for a folding stock for the camp 9.

I retired in 2007 at 67. I didn't want to retire, since I loved working, but I think now that it was for the best. I've gotten mostly accustomed to it. I felt incomplete for a good while without meaningful work to do and worthwhile things to accomplish, using my education, experience and intelligence (what little I have). I've had to admit that at 70 now, I don't think I could maintain the schedule I used to. Macho bullshit was never my thing, but it was hard to admit it, and it took awhile. It's good not to have to put up with the infuriating corporate bullshit and group think anymore, however.

But guess what for 9 years I haven't had to be and it is great. I can now call a spade a fuckin' shovel now...lol

It's a cold rainy day (monday am) in Peeples Valley, and a good day to do NOTHING.. this is opposed to what i normaly do which is "nothing" .. Being retired is "liv'n the dream" .. Between the views outside, and Direct tv inside, im a happy man.. The only major change was from quality beer, to milwaukee light.. But as long as you worker bees keep me and the wife in social security, and the pension doesn't dry up lifes fine.

I'll retire once when I'm 39, the get into some other profession. Still not sure. I need to see what the max age is for Border Patrol. Still can't decide between that and getting my law degree over these next few years. Lawyer money would be good, but so would two government retirement checks for the rest of my life.
