look for a certified pre-owned sig. They are usually FBI and LE turn ins, and sig inspects them and replaces worn parts before selling them. They also come with a warrenty through sig. I got a pre-owned for $525

not sure. I know of three shops/ranges around here that usually have two or three in stock. They are usually p226's and p229's in 9mm or .40, since thats what most LEA's use. you might be able to go to sig's website and click on their pre-owned program to find a dealer locator. I even remember seeing a couple at cabella's and bass pro if you have either of those in your area, I would give them a call to check their stock.

I agree with greasy paws, check out the cz75 series you can get a new one for about 500.00 or so. They are very well made pistols. I've owned a few of them and shot thousands of rounds through them. Check out my profile my image is a cz 75 P-01 with a light on it. awsome pistol and picture. Also go to CZUSA.com check out their web site. Also for the money look at the springfield armory XD series. You won't be dissapointed.

But that is just me. I generally don't like guns that have single and double action. I like Glocks and 1911's because every trigger pull is the same.

Again the advice is good about trying different guns out on the range.

Bear in mind that if you have to actually use a gun for self defense, your mind is going to be a little fucked, it is not a normal thing for most people to have to shoot a person.

You will forget a few things, and you will stumble a little. This is why I generally don't like external safeties. Unless you train to take the weapon off safe everytime you draw the weapon.

have you shot sigs before?? you have to manually depress the hammer to make it SA, otherwise it is always DA just like glocks and 1911's. they also make sig models that are strictly DA. If you don't like the feel of sigs that is one thing, but the ability to make it SA is just a added bonus... and you never have to mess with it if you don't want to.

If you always train to cock it with your thumb you will always have a single action gun.

I have shot them, I did a qual with a Sig, and I didn't really understand all the love they get. Different loves for different people though I suppose.

Originally I didn't like Glocks, but they are just so damn practical, (and reliable) that I learned to love them.

i would want a glock over a S&W auto. I think the only decent S&W auto is the M&P, but you can shit on a glock and it doesn't care

I was like hell yeah but then again ive been shooting all my life its hard trying to train someone on a what seems to them a very complicated weapon compared to a revolver which some still cant grasp but im gonna go and try someout when i get a chance when i went to get one a while back i was like a kid in a candy store and couldent decide so i diecided to wait and get some other opinions.

If you don't like all the safety features out there and they seem to complicated but you want a auto you should stick with the revolver untill you understand the functions of a semi auto handgun. If you plan on using it for self defense you'll be screwed trying to figure out the machanical assept of the firearm without proper training. Stick with the revolver for now until you educate yourself with a nother type of firearm.

Just to add I have been a certified NRA Pistol Instructor for some time now and also and Range officer too and also was a asst. range office for the MI-COPS charity shoot in Michigan. They had shooters from all over the country, even the x presidents shooting team. It was cool lot of good shooters out there. Like you said bottom line is practice practice practice and you will become an excellent shooter.
