The NRA

Hey guys, I just got off the phone with the NRA, now they have been calling me every two to three months asking me for money, which I gladly give. Now when I was speaking with them I asked about my membership status in which they replield that it was not their department and gave me the customer department number. I called the number they gave me and the nice on the other end told me that my membership had been expired since 2007. 2007 holy shit I mean I have been giving money all this time and my membership was expired. I figure I have givin them at least 1,000 or more within the last two years, so I aked the nice lady how is it that I have been giving ya'll money when you call me but my membership is no good, how is it that I am still on the call list? She answered honestly that since I was giving them money they kept calling me, well I couldn't argue with that so I renewed so five years and asked that I not recieve a letter every week to renew my membership. What is ya'lls thoughts on this

I'm a life member of the NRA and i still get calls and letters,i send money when i can and i don't let it bother me if i can't,that's how they oil the wheels of the legislative battles they are in,and i'm all for it.The NRA does more good for our 2nd ammendment, they are anti obama, pelosi, and the liberals that would take gun rights away.I really wish all gun owners would pony up and join the NRA,but that's not gonna happen i suppose, but the way i see it is if your gonna bitch about the loss of gun rights,or you can't have hi-cap mags, and you can't have this or that, then i'm gonna ask if you belong to the NRA,if you don't,your just pissing in the wind, you have done nothing to help rectify the issue.Kind of like a person bitching about politics and then you find out he don't vote- cause he's got principles! fuck that.Got no time for mere whiners.I had better get off my soap box now.

Actually i let Gloria take care of this, as shes a lot better with finanancial issues than i am..

We had to cut back a couple years ago from what we had given in the past, and our thought was that the DAV would be more hurt than other organizations that have large fund raising groups as part of thier infrastructure.. I can tell you that thier the most appreciative of all the charitable groups as well.. Seems the rest of them, the more you give the more they want.. The disabled vets really place a premium on showing appreciation..

I agree 100% on the NRA. I don't particularly like Wayne LaPierre, but I like Chris Cox. The NRA does more than any other organization to support our right to keep and bear arms. Maybe it's because they're far larger than anybody else, because they're certainly no more militant than the JPFO, SAF or CCRKBA. I advocate belonging to all these fine organizations, because they're carrying the legal and legislative fight for all of us.

When an org gets free money, they are not stupid enough to give that up. My wife went to a catholic school. Her dad always gave money to support the school. She stopped going to school in 79 or 80, the dont hav a problem STILL asking for money!! Money to support all the law suits against the catholic church maybe??

The point is, people that canvas the public for funds don't give a rats ass about your membership. I'm sorry I should have put that in my original response, my bad. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the NRA, or the way they raise funds. I believe in the NRA to protect our rights and keep the idiots that try to infringe upon them on their toes.

yes sir

i agree that membership in any progun group is a worthy use of some hard earned cash, the NRA has been around longer, has a more diversified game plan, and a lot of competition style gun events reguire participants to be NRA members period.I don't know if you had a chance to read this months column in the Rifleman NRA magazine but you would like how Wayne La pierre really takes Obama to task, does not even mince words and i appreciate that.
