nra vs reid

Thanks Lance. I do appreciate your response. For 3 weeks I have attempted to contact wayne la pierre- Cox - etc.via phone calls-emails and no return calls. Yesterday I sent my written cancellation
as per their computer instructions. I am totally surprised that any sane legal resident in this great country would even consider reid as a possible candidate for endorsement by the nra or any outfit that is aware of our present world status. I could send you his voting record from 1990 to the present . I don't think he is good for our cause. Both Brownell and Cassity appeared to be underwhelmed about this develpment.I am 70 years old and started with the outfit and made monthly payments to become a lifemember some 40 years ago I have given a fair anount of $ personally. I worked with Harlon Carter and Bob Jenson to correct some of the nra's mis-steps some years ago. I put my family and country long before the nra. For them to announce they are still considering reid is a slap in the face for all gun owners. They have lost their focus and it is sad that $ rules this entire mess. Again I thank you for your email. Please call Brownell & Cassity-check me out. Their own reps are taken back by their present stand on this issue. Everyone I know and trust has dropped out of the nra. They need a shakeup. I took a survey @ the last cross roads' gun show and 1 out of 25 people said they are our only defense against the anti gunners. 24 said they are out. I have walls filled with awards, pins, pictures of Charlton Heston etc-yes I have regrets but not about dropping out-just severe disappointment in management of the org. Thanks again and I hope you will take the time to check out my input. Remember it is all about $$ and we get 4-5 junk mails from them each month. I now feel like a sucker. I am a generous person with a history of giving but when I call the main personnel after 3 weeks and I get nothing back in return I can read the writing on the wall. Wayne may wear cheap suits but he makes a fair salary + expense account. He like congress has lost touch with the little people that make those donations every month. After he gets voted out and reid loses things will look better. This is not the end of the nra but a new beginning with new personnel. Thanks again. herk

oh another drop out

that's what you do when things don't go your way right, first off i understand the years that you have put into the NRA,or have you, tell me anything here,at face value your posts suggests a disenchantment with the current leadership of the NRA,but your a life member,Wayne gets voted in right? you get to vote as a life member and you choose to run away,i don't get it.
you know what i think,i think your an anti gunner masquerading as a NRA life member, the disenchanted NRA member, you pegged my BS meter Sir.

The NRA endorsed Reid due to his support of the shooting range,Reid is still a goner i believe

Thanks so much for your response. My political views are right of attila the hun. Your BS meter requires a tune-up. I am conservative and not registered with any party. I have a son in law enforcement and our family has collected and shot firearms all our lives. We moved from nys to gain some distance from the ultra liberal nyc group. Here in Arizona when we send $ to an org that we have supported for over 40 years and they don't return emails, phone calls or letters for over 6 weeks I believe I have the right and duty to expose how the nra neglected me. Give me your address and I'll send you some pics of Charlton H. the late Harlon Carter etc. life member pins. I also attempted to reach mike piconnie (sp) from some gun blog and finally asked me not to contact him anymore. I guess he was not quite as close to wayne as he thought. I do not know the amount of members that resigned in the last 2 months but I bet it was in the thousands. If you are really interested in my validity as to the nra I will send you my cancellation letter from the outfit signed by m. holmes dated 7/17/2010.
What a great country. God Bless America and keep your powder dry. General I may be a lot of things but I ain't no liberal and I ain't no liar. Looking @ your evaulation I think you may what to get a job as a reporter with the washington post--just the facts. herk fin Arizona=where we tell the feds to stay out of our business.

I usually make allowances for poor writing. Most people are not Ernest Hemingway and you just have to accept it if you're going to get along. But this piece is incomprehensible. There's no precedent. The subject changes in the middle of sentences. It's an incoherent rant. I kind of get that it's an anti-NRA piece, but it is not in the least convincing. I know there is a case to be made against the NRA, and I welcome discussing it.

But this guy needs to either start over or leave it to someone else who has the ability to communicate.

my grammar

Sorry Schuyler you were the only one that could not follow my posts. I have reviewed your posts and I am not overly impressed with your literary skills either but lest us not quarrel over such trivia. You are much better looking than janet (our X gov) I will type real slow and maybe that will aid you in your ability to read and understand some of my pontifications. So far Lucky is the only blogger that has given me a chance to explain my dislike for the present nra personnel. Please note and read Mike piconnie's (sp) rant which is in my post to Lucky today. Please read between the lines. Is the nra suggesting that we should only support what guns&patriots dictate to us? I say no. Mike appears to be doing quite well raising money supporting people like reid. Are you really telling this blog that you suppport reid? Ask the nra what Mike and others receive for contributions that they generate. Asked for a breakdown on donations vs expenses and salaries. I tried and got no answer. I do not mind your attacks, but wake up and smell the napalm-the little guy gets no response to any questions. The nra does not want feedback-JUST SEND MONEY. Read Mike's rant- it is all about $$$

I will send some of my nra memorabilia-life member pins nice pic Charelton Heston, nra golden eagles, nra legion of honor etc to anyone on this blog that attempts to make contact with the beltway and ask any question that relates to the premise that we'll support harry with $ but not Sharon Angle-They have no answer. Get with it guys they have lost their way. herkfin in Arizona

read what i posted

from the NRA website, the GOA is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, why?$$$$$$$$$$$
I've been an NRA member for a long time,i just upgraded to a life member,do i like the few letters that come in the mail asking for money, not much,i have sent in money when i could.
Is the NRA perfect,no,oh well they still get the respect in DC they deserve, they still get respect from the media, what other gun right advocacy group do you here from? I have never gotten one mailing from GOA,i remember when they were formed back in the 80s,never see them at gunshows either.

It's to bad that gun owners don't see the NRA as the first line of defense for the second ammendment and support that with 30 bucks for the entire year membership. The NRA is a single issue entity, gun rghts, that's why they endorsed Reid, but like i said before,Washington politics in regard to gun control is a game of chess, you have to think at least three moves ahead

As far as leaving the NRA,okay, but wouldn't it be better to stay and try and change things,or at least make your point known,I don't know maybe i'm a sucker.

The NRA does tons of good stuff besides its lobbying efforts. I know some people consider them not strident enough. If you want to be more strident, there are other organizations to join IN ADDITION to the NRA. Still, it's the largest most consistent group out there.

What other organizations, that are good ones, do I need to check into?? Not out of the idea to join them, but maybe as more of a way to keep up with all the BS towards the gun acts/bans and any other info I can get my hands onto!!!

Subject- nra vs herk fin

Hello all. Approx 6 weeks ago the nra floated a news leak that they might endorse harry reid. When they received a landslide of negative feedback they stated that they were only testing. Yesterday 8/31/2010 they announced they will not be endorsing harry. @ the same time they are taking members’ money ($5000) to give to harry’s campaign. Harry is the closest thing I have seen to the anti-Christ. He and others have contributed to the breakdown of this great country. After 40 years of life membership I have left and quite honestly with a fair amount of anger. The nra ‘s logic is if politicians are pro gun they will endorse them. Using this same logic if obama was pro gun they would endorse him. I object them telling me I just don’t understand the beltway mentality. Over 40 years I have donated thousands of dollars to the org and they now are still saying they are a one issue organization. The bottom line is that I am asking (almost begging) all of you to call ,write, email the nra & ask them why they would support the ilks of reid. To provide $ to this organization is a slap in the face of millions of people that sent their hard earned $ to defeat people like reid. They are a cash cow with their mailing program but I think they might be trying to milk a bull. Please confirm or deny my statements. If you like harry reid join the nra. Also please confirm and I will be pleased to remove you from this rant. GUNS YES- nra NO. God bless America herk fin

Other firearms organizations worthy of your consideration include (but are not limited to): JPFO (Jews for the Protection of Firearms Ownership), SAF (Second Amendment Foundation), and CCRKBA (Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms). These are organizations for one to consider, in addition to the NRA. All of these believe fervently in our personal freedom and the preservation of our rights.

My point remains the same and unanswered by you, intelligent rebuttals would have made for a more interesting discussion than what i got from you in response,i can only surmise that your efforts to contact NRA officials using the same antagonistic approach put them on the defensive.

But I'm going to give you another chance to state your reasons for running away after 40 years, but instead of semi personal attacks, why don't you give some constructive instances for your new found pessimism in the NRA,surely it can't be all Reid.Until then my BS meter will remain unchanged.

Hey LBC

How was your machine gun madness? Was that today or is it tomorrow.
I am envious. There is one here in AZ, just has never been the right timing for me, but one day!
I did fire an full auto .50 in the service and I did enjoy the carnage it sowed/reaped.

Hey Sam

today was great, outside of the usual full auto AR and AKs i shot,i fired an MP5,a PPSH,and HK 33,M14 and a MAC 10.I also shot several handguns,a Barrett .50.My favorite had to be the PPSH,that was sweet, or the Thompson full auto was right there with it.All in all a perfect day.I will post pictures but i have to get them from the gal that went with us, as i left my camera sitting on the counter. It's going on tomorrow as well,i might have to go again.

I guess I did not make my point. Sorry about that. reid, poloser, bo ,boxer and others are not friends of any gun group. This trio have done more to degenerate our country and its' values than any political slugs in my life time. For some one like la pierre to avoid responding to any member 's questions is unacceptable. In talking with one director and one Az rep I was given the profound statement that wayne is a belt way person. Tomorrow 8/29/2010 we will see what the majority thinks of the beltway people that are trying to destroy America's values. So far I have not heard anyone on this forum mention that they contacted and/or tried to contact any one in a position of authority. Some one on this forum said I had a knee jerk reaction to the situation and just left. This is NOT true. I made calls to Ruger-Dillion and many co's in the firearms field to try and get their opinion on reid's possible endorsement. I challenge you all to get wayne-cox-any director to openly discuss this issue. If a man or woman does not have values and makes all their decisions on $ they do not deserve nra support or any org that treasures freedom and the truth . Some years ago-probably before most of you were born I entered into a major debate with a guy named cassidy who was up in the organization @ the time. I called and he returned my call. The rifleman (before the hunter mag) magazine carried a a huge article on the busch family and what great people they were for the firearms community. I explained that he (cassidy) was praising a family that had the following rap sheet. Tucson Az. one dead girl in a corvette- 1 -44mag firearm- no bush jr. Left the scene. Several months later same busch had shoot out with FBI back east, and one dead relative shot dead @ the busch castle's shooting range. Cassidy, in answer to why he held this family of wealth coupled with some bad guns habits and he said because they give us a lot of$$$$$$$$$. Did I quit? I sent my kids to the Tucson newspaper to copy all the deaths related to the busches and guns. I then sent over night FED X copies @ the cost of approx. $200. to eah director. I then called Harlon Carter, Bob Jenson and the remaining directors of the org. Did I run away from the nra- No but I certainly changed some minds and cassidy went away along with some others. I followed the same circuit of attempting to get some response from wayne-cox- and some of the directors-nothing.I'm tired and I'm not about to watch their menu on their webpages . By the way I still don't drink bud. Character does count and dirty harry has none. Shame on the nra. Next time when you float your balloon to test the political winds-check for lead. GOD BLESS AMERICA
Hopefull some of you will vote. herk fin Arizona-fighting our way thru the fed's swamp and guarding our border- looks like most the national guard in Az. will not have ammo-should be interesting

hello lucky

Hello Lucky. After 6 weeks I think I gave the org enough chances to give me an answer to my one question. As stated before-how many people on this blog even tried to contact the mother ship? I am finished with any group that equates $ with logic. I think wayne and cox could have avoided this entire disaster if they had taken some calls from the general membership. We are not talking about the Pope here they have made mistakes in the past and they will again but don't dodge the people that are picking up the check. The timing of one director telling me that I don't understand the beltway mentality is unaccepatable. This weekend showed the tip of the iceberg in dc. Give me the members that left and $500,000 and I'll run the org with no more donations. I remember when we were trying to get 1 million members and so on. We need to re-focus and make sure the org gets back to the common citizen and the endorsement of true patriots. reid and his ilk are a cancer on all of our rights.

welcome back herk

you have gone from a tired disenchanted rudderless ghostly form of yourself to a patriotic pit bull, good show, modesty prevents me from accepting any credit for your transformation.

Now,you have invested a great amount of time and effort into the NRA,the negative reasons for your dissatisfaction with the NRA seem to have been nullified by events, decisions, and time. You said yourself the NRA ain't the Pope and has made mistakes in the past and will in the future,You charge others here to explain their degree of involvement in the NRA,while dismissing yourself.

We have had this discussion on this site before Sir.In your case you jumped right into this subject, which i have enjoyed, but your transformation is complete and we would be agreeing more than not on the NRA.Reid ,Pelosi, shummer,to damn many to list here, are out to destroy our gun rights.ETERNAL VIGILANCE IS THE PRICE OF FREEDOM.

Thanks for the response Lucky. I found the Marilyn Monroe picture that you requested but the pages in the playboy mag are stucked together. So much for needing glasses.

Seriously our exchange was productive and I would like to start over from here. I have eaten more crow than Sheryl's boy friend . It would make me very happy if some of your bloggers would contact the boys to get the list of who gets endorsed before Nov 1st. nra-angle

Hello Lucky. This just came in over the wire. Would appreciate your comments-thanks herk

Dear Patriot,
Recently we brought you the good news that the National Rifle Association was not going to endorse Harry Reid. This seemingly good news is tempered by the fact that now the NRA is refusing to endorse Sharron Angle. The NRA also gave Harry Reid a nearly $5,000 campaign contribution, and have not made a contribution to Sharron's campaign matching or surpassing the contribution to Reid.

Now one of Reid's political hacks, Brandon Hall, is spouting off to the press with this quote in the Las Vegas Review Journal: "The NRA's relationship with Senator Reid has been long-standing and productive and -- unlike for Sharron Angle -- they've put their money where their mouth is this cycle,"

The Western Representation PAC is appalled that the NRA would offer monetary support to a liberal who has made a career out of trampling the constitution like Harry Reid, and refuse to support a constitutional conservative who will fight to uphold our right to keep and bear arms. We have launched a petition demanding that the NRA endorse and support Sharron Angle. Please sign and share the petition by clicking ------HERE------

The Western Representation PAC is supporting Sharron Angle with ongoing radio and internet ads, help us continue to counter the smears of the Reid political machine by making a generous contribution -----HERE-----

nra guns & patriots

very interesting.

Hey Gunners,

Thursday I was at the NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, VA. I had the chance to meet with Wayne LaPierre and I spent a few hours with my good friend, and the person I respect more than anyone else on this earth, Jim Land. These men are both officers of the NRA.

I was there to record radio commercials. Yep, the voice you frequently hear in NRA commercials is me. While I was there we filmed the weekly legislative update. Instead of airing the update, the NRA formally announced that there will be no Harry Reid endorsement. Did you really think there was going to be an NRA - Harry Reid endorsement?

What you must realize is this: Not all conservatives are pro-gun. There are people out there encouraging you to stay away from the NRA. They are not NRA members, they are not shooters and they will encourage you to join any organization, but the NRA. If anyone tells you to stay away from the NRA ask them if they are a member. If the answer is "no," then realize they have the same position on the NRA that Obama and Pelosi do -- they don't want you to join.

In 2009, G & P was the largest independent recruiter in the world for the NRA. Wayne LaPierre wrote for me on Obama's first 100 days as President. Sandy Froman, the former NRA President, sent to me the testimony she gave Congress on the Sotomayor nomination -- before the testimony was given. My point is this: you can trust what you hear from G & P. I don't engage in rumors and you should ignore them too.

Media is about money and there are those that will sell out the Second Amendment for their own gain.

Not all conservatives are pro-gun. Beware of these people.

Join the NRA. Join here for $25 and send a message to anyone that says you should not be a member. G & P readers get the best price available for a full annual membership.

Support the NRA, and support your state association, if you want to protect and preserve the Second Amendment.

Please read Jennifer Kendall's article this week. She does a great job of defining the organizations that threaten our way of life. This article is exclusive to Guns & Patriots and it is excellent.

Mike Piccione
Editor, Guns & Patriots

Hi lucky- would love to get your take on this. Maybe they are hurting already for more cash?? I wonder what % the fund raisers are receiving ? I think I am looking smarter by the day. ps Mike P. is one of the people that I begged to be forthright with a timely answer on endorsements to the membership. His last email said please do not email me again. Hopefully while he searches for new members he will read this blog. Mike I am proud that I do not understand the beltway that is attempting to put this great country under. Utilizing Mike's logic if obama was pro gun you would endorse him.
