Reconciliation after the Civil War (War between the States, War of Northern Aggression, whatever) was, obviously, a disaster considering the rifts that are still there. Barry is an embarrassment and a dangerous person to have in office, but if the lesser of two evils, the Republicans, can regain control of congress in 2010, we'll be able to fix things. four years seems like a long time, but it's no worse than eight under Clinton or Bush Sr.

maybe since. (Reagan).or maybe he doesn't even qualify for some people...we need to give STATES more of the power and more of the control over their citizens' life...that' is the main problem in the US today. Bush Sr, W, Slick Willie and now Obama have pushed us closer to 'soft tyranny' and Barry is just accelerating the push! I have to disagree with Runaway on one thing though. While we have regrouped after Presidential incompetence (other events)...right now we are on such an accelerated pace that for sure it's going to be very difficult to recover. For instance...if this health care bill gets passed (and I pray it doesn't)...we will never get rid of it...just like the Fed Income Tax, Department of Energy, etc etc...We will have pushed so far that we will be at the breaking point/tipping point or some believe over it!
We don't only need to stop what's going on, we need folks in power who will repeal some of the stupid shit of the past.

If enough people got together they could force congress
to rethink some things and make changes
But I don't see it happening

I have wrestled with this for a long time. I don't know where the breaking point is. Obviously, if the feds passed an edict that said no civilian gun ownership allowed, and started sending cops door-to-door, that'd be an easy call to make. But what I may consider the line in the sand may not be the same as what anyone else does. Take an example of boat monitors. I'm making this up, but stay with me. perhaps someone loves boating and the feds say "Due to an increased threat of drug smuggling organizations and al Qaeda infiltration using coastal waterways, all private boats 80 feet and smaller will be required to submit to being boarded by a boat monitor who will accompany the craft to its final docking location". Now to me, that would be a huge infringement and something I would raise hell about, but I wouldn't necessarily brek out the M4 and start headhunting. But someone who values their freedom on the water might take that as the ultimate infringement and the point of no return. That person kills a few officials and is labeled a nutjob by everyone including conservatives. Randy Weaver, anyone? His name is synonymous with government abuse now, but who really thought he was a victim while it was happening? There will almost certainly be no one event that triggers all patriots to rise, and that is how government excesses will continue.

I think gun ownership means enough to us that we
would FIGHT a door to door search.
I wonder how long they would have enough cops to do a search
when dead cops are all around in the streets.
Couldn't hire me for that job

Maybe CW........

They will more than likely have UN troops do the searches.......I imagine that many LE and Millitary won't disarm citizens.

Obviously, each person has a certain point that they will not allow the feds to cross without a fight, and that point is a private issue on an open internet forum. People I call friends, who I have actually met, know mine and most of them agree.

for us. Not many Americans I know would have a problem dropping the hammer on a foreigner. But when it's a local cop, somone you know and maybe even like, it becomes more difficult. I am pretty confident though, that as soon as an active shooting match starts, those small town deputies who haven't actually joined the citizens will quickly find a new line of work. So foreigners may be the only choice. God have mercy on 'em, 'cause we won't.

Yes I do, Shak

I don't know if there really is a red-flag dictionary somewhere and I don't want to go making claims that our own government is spying on us, but I will say I am very concerned about what kind of access and activity was legalized in the USA Patriot Act. I'm not a black helicopter conspiracy theorist, although I have seen the black helicopters and know exactly who they are, as does anybody who has ever watched Blackhawk Down. I understand that those in power will do anything to stay in power, I just can't say I know for sure who really is in power.

Careful, Schuyler

Your normally calm demeanor is beginning to give way to nonsensical drivel. I'm not rubbing off, am I? Try to resist talking to yorself online and you should be fine. No he won't. Yes he will, now shut up. You shut up. Look, I'm trying to keep a calm demanor and be fair and impartial. Fine. Thank you.

for my lofty logical postings and a point for my drivel. So why bother with logical? It doesn't pay any more. Oh, wait...I'm retired. Forgot there for a minute.

Yeah right like i can remember what the subject line was.. Ok lets start with points. someone said earlier that the point counter was broken.. I can honestly say i had no idea what my points were till that comment was made. I agree with something Schuyler said sometime ago, sometimes i might make a three paragraph (like i seperate into paragrahps... ) comment, sometimes a shorter one, but i can honestly say that i have never thought about posting something as a way to gain points. It's to obsurd for words for me. I understand how some of you have a diffrent view, Sam has expressed how he "racked up" points to get rid of a past press.. Glad he did, he's a great president, and I think were better off with him in that position.
Are we being watched.. Yep.. I am not a conspericy type, don't have to be for this one. ask yourself the obvous. You have a minority, liberal, 180 degree turn about as president.. and you have a site that is obviously conservative, obviously armed, duh.. If we werent monitored i think it fair to say it would be thought of as a mistake. Janet has already made overt comments re: vets, conservatives, etc. I know with all i am that were (like all conservative sites) monitored. Ask yourself this, if Sara was elected in 2012 would we indorse monitoring a militant left wing site.. The ELF with guns puppys.. of couse we would. so..
And the last thought in the thread is the first. At what time do you say, "ok it's time to fly the flag upside down". This to me is like playing poker and discovering the games riged, do ya turn the table over.. Or do you call out the problem, (safe, but nothing gained) I honestly don't know.. I know it starts before they ever come for the guns, thats never going to happen anyway. More likley to see issues with buying ammo... that were already seeing.. If the populace speaks and its a one term administration then its all just that funny post that had us all laughing last week.. remember arguing on the internet is like running in special olympics... were all retards.. time for bed.. later friends..

a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture.

Hey Run

When I referred to tipping point, I was referring to political tipping point, I guess I could have specified that. For armed conflict with the government, that would take more than what I was referring to. Massachusetts just reached it's tipping point. For instance, Kaleefornia is going to reach it's tipping point soon...they just don't know it or don't care to admit it. This is exactly where state power is really needed. If Kaleefornia was not able to tap into the federal governement as much as they can (all of us), they would be forced to confront their problems and deal with them. Right now, they just refuse to recognize that illegal aliens are a root cause of their financial woes...not all of it, but a large part of it. Liberals don't want states to stand on their own...because as the fall one by one (liberal states), it will be because of what they believe -- which they absolutely cannot afford to allow happen.

Will Cali really tip?

Or are people there so ingrained with the nanny state mentality that it's simply too late. Something to think about is that the governor is officially a Republican. Now while we all know he isn't really a Republican and that he does not represent real "right of center" views, his opponents in the Dem party will have an easier time given his political party.
