Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any “semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General.”

Note that Obama’s pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, “there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.” In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

Thats going too far

The hell he thinks he is. That list is BS and he probably knows it. Do people not understand that there is a reason the founding fathers made the second amendmant. It was to protect us from our own government that they knew sooner or later that would become corrupt. I find it scary that the same goverment that made that law is now slowy tear it into little shreads! People that think it is outdated and made for shooting red coats and indians have really misunderstood it.

HMM IMAGINE THIS OUR GOVERNMENT LYING TO US ??

So they finally had to come out and admit it, now that the Coroner has released some info along with Police. An AR-15 Rifle or the so-called "Assault Weapon" was not used in the school shooting. The shooter even tried weeks earlier to buy a Rifle but was turned down in the background check. So he had to kill his Mother to steal her rifle. There were initial reports right after the shooting, that Police found the AR-15 Rifle in his car, NOT IN THE SCHOOL. The Rifle was not used. The Shooter went into the school with 4 handguns. Not an Assault Rifle as the media has charged. I remember in the intitial hours of this shooting, the Police said they found the Rifle in the car. But the News Media had a Pre-Planned Attack already waiting, to ban so-called assault weapons and jumped on that line of reporting, knowing it was a lie. Including people like Piers Morgan who said the shooter used an AR-15 that shoots hundreds of rounds per minute, as if it were a machine gun. Could it be that the Democrat Liberals and the Media were pushing for the new law, hoping they could do it, before the Coroner released the info. I'm betting on it.

A starting point

This is the list with which the Democrats open the negotiations. The Republicans, instead of writing up their own list that is just as radical but in the other direction, will open with leaving things as they are. The Democrats will be willing to give up almost everything on their list, but in order to get that, the Republicans will have to give up something too.......maybe universal background checks, or magazine capacity restrictions.

I would bet heavily on the backgrouund checks. I wouldn't bet against the mag limits.

You have to fight them at every turn, to give them anything will only empower them to go for more. They will never stop until they get what they want.

I agree, and I am pushing the point as hard as I can with my Congresscritter. The history of the Republican party along these lines, however, is not encouraging.

The fact is, they wait until something happens so they can pounce on the issue while the peoples emotions are high. I ask you all, how sick is that?

Thank you for the link. I find it helps make a more solid point if there is evidence to back up a claim.

*edit* I just read the article and noticed it was Feinstein's list, not Obama's. Just for clarification.
