Thanks Hamp

Never thought of that I was discussing SHTF senario with the wife and she looked at me like I was nuts, but the great thing in the same conversation she asked when we are going to shoot the H&K again!

Bet money most of us have members of the family who do the "your just being paranoid" stuff, that should be the case with most of us, and yep we walk a fine line here..

The deal is that all of this keeps us safe.. We ate at a Texas Roadhouse in Prescott yesterday, (met up with the Phx cousin ive talked about and his wife, great and funny people) So right away i take the wall seat so i can see the room.. The only thing i was carrying was my little Freedom arms (thanks Pard, i cleaned it up and put some of those new Remmi's you sent me in it) derringer. So sure not "over gunned" but at least armed (sorta lol)..

As we sit down cousin askes if sitting against the wall is easier on my back.. Gloria does the wife "sigh" and says no Greg always has to see the room or he gets "nervious".. (thinking its time for appologies about the spell check..) anyway.. The point is i could no more sit with my back to the room than i could dunk a basketball.. I give that indulgent smile we give to those who don't understand the real world..

Will something happen to us, probabley not.. as BG's are like water.. they take the easiest path.. I promise you that johnny, Juan, or Jaheam bless there little purse snatching butts are not going to grab any of our wifes purses, or think twice about "borrowing" and of our vehicles..

Because were what we are.. The first item on the BG agenda is to hit on the weak and those who are unaware.. Makes there crime that much more hienious.. but a fact of life..

This is true

(I tried to post a quote about how life is more dangerous than people think) (it failed)

Alot of people think the world is (as I call it) ALOT more "Disney" than it really is. Meaning they think nothing bad will ever happen to them, they just dont know how close they come everyday to crime.

I had a girlfriend (had, she was dumb..really) when I was with her nothing bad happened, cuz every1 knew I was carrying. We broke up....a week later ( A WEEK!) she was drugged and raped by one of her "Good friends", and now has a rape baby... that sux, and its bad..but somehow, "I told you so" just doesnt do it.

Hey guys, I'm new to the site but loving it so far. I am ALWAYS in this situation with most of my not so close friends, work buddies, other family members, and my wife, God love her, she always says I worry too much about it lol.

I'm only 24 but was in the Marines for 4 years, got out to go to college and now am a Junior and run my father & father-in-law's garage that they co-own. Anyway, I just wanted to say you guys are the kind of guys I like to hang out with and chit chat with. It's most of the time guns, sometimes beer, sometimes "zombie" stuff, sometimes women, and sometimes cars. What else do you need besides a little football talk here and there lol.

But yeah, y'all are a real cool bunch of people. Too bad there ain't more like y'all around where I live. Sure there are a lot of rednecks who like hunting but to be at a preparedness level like this, like you all seem to be and I know I am, there aren't hardly any around me like that. Besides my father and two best friends since elementary school and fellow Marines, that's my circle lol.

Anyway, just trying to get noticed on the site. I've put up a few posts about my "Inventory" and stuff on the Zombie Kit post and another Zombie Survival Guide post. But anyway, take care fellas.

I am a lying asshat! Turd is my name and scat is my game...

Kinky Friedman

I believe Kinky Friedman said something along the lines of "if you're paranoid long enough, you're going to be right eventually"

Or maybe that wasn't from him? I remember hearing it attributed to Kinky, and it stuck in my head.

paranoia=prepairdness

Paranoid, The Police Acadamy tought in color codes. ie. White= relaxed, not paying attention to your suroundings!! YELLOW= this is where we all wanna be when we are out in public!! ie. a Resturant!! Yes call it what ever you want, but sit where you can view the largest part or the room. Think of Lubie's Restraunt!!! or several others i can't think of at the moment. Stay in the YELLOW zone of alertness. And hope it dosn't go RED!!! Allways play sceniro's in your mind, while in a store, restruant, parking lot, look around and be aware of your surroundings!!!

Lyle's right of course we all know the whole color code deal.. I had a deal happen couple of months back that sorta brought something home to me.. Gloria and i had met my cousin and his wife at the Texas roadhouse in Prescott..

If you guys don't know them, find out, good stuff, period.. Ok so anyway i "hobble" back to the men's room, which just so happens is at the other end of the restaurant .. I come out from my second or third trip, and beat my cousin back to the table.. When he returns he says was that the cook i saw you talking with..

I had complimented a young man i correctly assumed was the chef, but had COMPLETLY missed my cousin, he saw me, i had no idea he was around.. This is one of those wake up calls you get.. NEVER would have happened to me 20 years ago.. impossible.. Guess its just aging, but still bugs me..

When you're experiencing a lower standard of living because you're spending all your money or are unable to function in normal society, you've gone too far. I'll give an example of something I consider preparation, but some have called paranoid. I have discussed it here before, but for the benefit of those who have not basked in my greatness, I shall provide another opportunity.

When you are in a store, stop sometimes and wargame what your actions would be if you hear gunfire coming from the front registers. Or from the automotive department. Locate possible exits so if an emergency does arise, you're not OTF (Out There Flappin'). Wargaming possible courses of action in response to different events is not paranoid, it's preparation. Now, if you do all your shopping online and avoid going to stores because of the possibility of life threatening events, you may be paranoid.

Bear in mind also that the scenarios you can wargame also include fires, tornados, and other nonviolent emergencies.

I belive in being

prepared but not in the burt (guy from the tremor movie) way. I am in the process of stocking up on ammo not really the guns cause you can only carry so many.

If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

I guess I m not so much paranoid as conditioned.

I kinda was raised like a pup, got my nose rubbed in everything and most of the time when someone reached out to touch it wasn't in a friendly manner. LOL

Will say it lent to an early understanding of the value in people watching, social cognition, wolves, sheep and just how far down that black hole I can get before the light comes back and I have to figure out what I need to apologize for, if that will be enough.

Situational Awareness keeps one smiling and breathing for the most part. Then again, having a pent up little green demon inside dragging it's knuckles beating it's head on the cage looking for a weak spot reflected in your eyes helps too on the odd spot.

The people who think we are paranoid will be the same ones running to hide behind us if the shit hits the fan. I almost said "when" there but that would be a bit paranoid, we dont know for a fact that it will but being ready if it does is what we are trying to accomplish. We all have to do what we have to do to feel safe and protected and leaving that responsibility to anyone else makes you naive and irresponsible which is what we should call the people who call us paranoid.

That's interesting but human nature does not always follow that script.
Stockholm Syndrome comes to mind.
WW2 French collaboration comes to mind.
Just sitting in the shadows being very little also comes to mind.
The people who call you paranoid now will be the ones who finger
you, rat you out to the enemy, whomever that may be. It's not good to share
a whole lot of information with non-believers, even the ones in your family.
Anyway, the odds favor a large percentage of us gun loving conservatives
going over to the dark side if or when the day comes. That just how us peoples
work.

many times here, in relation to myself and my tendency to produce lengthy, ranting essays. However, thinking about the present condition of our world, I believe preparedness that is based on a reasonable analysis of the probability of BG's causing bad things to happen in MY neck of the woods, deserves a better label. I call it "Enlightened Paranoia", I admit to friends and relatives, alike, that much of my thinking is directed in this way--whether the concern is anything from friendly neighborhood drug gang members, to a POTUS or foreign leaders, whom I believe to be emotionally unbalanced. I am concerned about what they say--- especially when they are facing me in close quarters, and utter frightening threats, knives and clubs in hand, or utter lies with their vocal cords. Such people may very well not know it, but they are close to being disabled or REGRETFULLY POWERLESS, if they continue, along THAT behavioral line. IMO, that should be our international policy also. Negotiating with either a thug, or a national leader who threatens grievous harm to you, your friends or your country is NOT an enlightened policy predicated to guarantee peace and safety for you, your friends or your country.

Those of us who have studied human behavior probably will agree that the FIRST lower order human need is that of survival---that is, self-preservation. In order to have this need met, 24/7, it is necessary to be vigilant [even while asleep]. Enlightened paranoia will give us the ability to meet this challenge, whether in potential close combat or potential international conflagration. We must lead ourselves and families/friends in the former, and we must have LEADERS who are in good contact with reality, in the latter. In contrast, our present National Leadership seems to be in contact with very dangerous "magical thinking" about doing business with the leaders of the Iranian theocracy.

DON'T JUST BE A "SHEEP DOG"-----BECOME AN "ENLIGHTENED PARANOIAC"

Too old to fight, Too old to run, guess that's why I carry a gun! "would someone show this asshole the way out of town".[Rabbi Avram Belinski-aka "The Frisco Kid"]

our freedom, it's also good to know when to hold your cards close to your chest.
Your postings have been more of an education than shivering, pants peeing, the Russians are coming dose of paranoia, I salute you for that.
Spreading the information about preparations for "the big event" alerts the doubters and the opposition.
I am fairly confident the opposition views the chest thumpers the same as I do. I cringe when I read that someone is going to fight to the death to protect his guns. Silly.
The BG's can have ALL my guns, that they can find. Will I fight from my front door? Nope.
Will I hide in the woods and plot an ambush? Nope.
If SHTF what I do will matter to no one but me and the BG.
The best advice I can think of for the day of "The Big Event" is think.
