Piezoelectric Sparker possible to replace primers
Lately with the way our government is talking about banning guns and the attacks on ammo here especially in California AKA the land of fruits and Nuts I'm becoming more and more frustrated with the thought of no longer reloading and having an ample supply of ammo for protecting my family and property. Folks its getting to be an all out war on our second amendment right's. I know for a fact that electronic ignition of weapons is already happened and that has led me to the thought of how this could be implemented to a cartridge for the everyday ordinary firearm. I believe it is possible and since I have access to a tool and die shop and 10 years of electronics I have decided to start working on this and publishing here how I did it and how it works. I have a ton of sticks in the fire so it won't be soon but I will get to it and with any luck we will come up with something that the ordinary Joe can do with about $10.00 worth of material to make his own Piezoelectric Sparker primed rounds and solve the problem of available or soon to be banned primers and ammo if our government has its way. Maybe you have an Idea to expound on this post. |

It's a valid concept, as many HEAT warheads use piezoelectric fuses, but keeping the cost in range of the average reloader is not likely to happen. You also have to consider that a primer doesn't just work by heating the powder, the small concussive force of it also stirs the powder to allow complete ignition of the charge.

You have it, Have you seen the weapon in trials viewed on the Military channel, were they stack the bullets and Charges on top of each other and using electric ignition I wonder if they have multi-spark ignition that spreads the the ignition? Much like Solid Pack Electric Blasting Cap
Solid pack electric blasting caps use a thin bridgewire in direct contact (hence solid pack) with a primary explosive, which is heated by electric current and causes the detonation of the primary explosive. That primary explosive then detonates a larger charge of secondary explosive.
Some solid pack fuses incorporate a small pyrotechnic delay element, up to a few hundred milliseconds, before the cap fires. Of course Much research and prototyping would would have to be done to use in ammunition but I think that it could and have some Idea's as to how. Some modification to the weapon of course such as a battery pack and a special design primer that works with given cartridge and reusable.

you'd get from a small, primer size piezo. May have to 'speriment with primary charges to get one that will det with the small spark you may get with the very small piezo. You mentioned battery pack, all new ball game with electric primers, a tried and true system. I believe the Gyrojet used electric systems.
For my 2 centavos I'll continue to keep a supply of conventional ammo on hand since it lasts a very long time with minimal effort.

I'm Keeping My conventional ammo as well and the more the better. Its not to far down the road were it will be unavailable especially in states like Kalifonia land of Michael the Molester! That being said when politicians get away with shit in one state it spreads like a wild fire and they do it behind the backs of the people, Google AB962 in California they are trying to limit Handgun ammo to 50 rounds a month and you can't even give your kid a box of 22 shells to go hunting. Nuts!
No wonder Michael Jackson loved it so well.

called the Etronix that uses an electric primer, but not a piezoelectric one. It was a commercial failure, but primarily due to marketing mistakes.
samD
electric gun was, someone to carry that long ass extension cord for the power.

Ha hahahahahaha
ohioshooter
and have a solar panel to run it and charge your battery up for night shooting lol
