Pistol-training.com has a Gen4 Glock 17 endurance test up. go check it out. There is some valuable information there for people who own glocks. Doesnt matter what generation you have but the newer gen 3 and the gen 4 are at question. Everyone is probably thinking, I know I know the gen 4 recoil spring sucks. Well, it just so turns out that it may in fact be the extractor, not the recoil springs, and heres the kicker... some of the Gen3 that are still being sold out there, have the newer gen 4 extractor in them as well. So, Id suggest reading this article, examining your extractor, and then changing it with an older one if you have the problem extractor. It seems GLOCK decided to change their extractors to for some reason which is completely unecessary. Even the recoil springs were unecessary. But the story is that the Gen4 G17 couldnt make it to 1000 rounds stock. Todd decided to test the gun with an older extractor I think one without loaded chamber indicator idk(read the article) and it went like 1200 rounds with 3 failures. Todd finally figured it out after almost calling it quits completely after only like 1000 rounds, which would have been embarassing for glock. He found out he put the extractor back in backwards or something, but now its working and the test is going to continue. So i am eager to see what happens so I can tell people how to fix their gen4 glocks when they bring them into the shop and look at me like "huh?"
