We haven't had a good political discussion since Daisy and I crossed swords a while ago. But something important may be about to happen during the present presidential campaign, and I would like to get you-all's ideas about it.

If you listened to Romney's TV speech about Trump's candidacy, regardless of whether you like Trump or hate him, you heard an attempt to assassinate Trump on behalf of the old "establishment Republicans", of which Romney is a member. [since it is not politically correct to use the label "establishment Republican" these days, I have renamed them, "the Moldy Figs"]

Those old farts are so afraid of losing their stranglehold on the party, that they are not afraid of publicly disclosing just how desperate they really are. So they appointed a two time loser as a "hit man". [This is the candidate who could have crushed Obama in their 2012 TV debates---but did not do so for lack of any cojones/testosterone.] BUT AT THE HEAD OF A MOLDY FIG LYNCH MOB, HE ACTUALLY GREW A PAIR, and proved ad hominem attacks, once more, are the desperate weapons of those who have no real ammunition left.
Trump, of course, struck back at Romney referring to his terribly weak performance against Obama in the debates, and our TV media kept playing the tape clip of Romney's resounding thanks to Trump for his last campaign endorsement, in which Romney praised Trump for his business management successes. [That left an elephant in the room---HOW AFTER FOUR MORE SUCCESSFUL YEARS, DID TRUMP BECOME SUCH AN INCOMPETENT IDIOT !?]

IMO, Trump will strike back at the moldy figs. He already did yesterday, by announcing he will NOT attend the CPAC [moldy fig] conference, and if the moldy figs continue to attack him--mostly through the utterances of Cruz and Rubio [both camouflaged moldy figs], Trump's growing electorate will force him to warn the moldy fig hierarchy, he is not being treated fairly, and he will have to go to the Republican convention with a promise to quit and register a NEW Party, if ANY manipulation will have occurred.
If such a thing, or anything like it, were to happen, IMO, that will signal the end of the Republican Party as we have known it; and we will have a revolution in U.S. politics----something that should have happened long ago.

I could hardly believe my ears listening to Romneys speech. Hypocrite much Romney?. He pulls the same crap that Harry Reid and the dems pulled on him on Trump! You're right the Moldy Figs have just screwed the pooch.

Mr. BL47

Yes, they did screw the "pooch", and while doing so, committed a very difficult, contortionistic and unnatural sex act.
[it wouldn't be nice to say "they screwed themselves"]

party and U.S. politics swing like a pendulum going from conservative to moderate to liberal over the years. We are at a crucial point now when it is critically important to return to conservative to stop the momentum of the liberal power brokers of the party. The 'news' media's propaganda has been unable to hide their agenda. The attacks against the conservative side cannot be explained away as anything other than a coup against the majority conservative voters of our country in an attempt to protect the leftist social and economic agenda, the overthrow of the Constitution.
The moment is here, an existing vacancy on the Supreme Court and a possibility of 2 or more vacancies in the next 8 years. The court is the only branch that can unilaterally destroy our country. We go conservative or we've lost.
It was disgusting to see "Republicans" come out en mass supporting Rubio after their other phony, Bush, crashed. Rubio could not excite a street walker with a fist full of $50s so some pathetic operatives with (R) behind their names tried to pump up Kasich, that had zero resonance.
I'm not enthusiastic over Trump, I would prefer Cruz but bottom line, anyone BUT GOPe.

ANSWERING A VALID QUESTION, WITH A QUESTION does not advance the discussion.

I believe the moldy figs are a self-aggrandized, self-serving cabal, regardless of their TRUE individual political beliefs. They have sold [and will continue to sell] their souls to conspire to retain the stranglehold.
Their true individual political positions are therefore irrelevant, until one like Roberts, exposes himself.

'mornin' LLE

You asked who the liberal power brokers are, I replied: "GOPe. They sell their souls to stay on top." That's not really a question. I'm wondering if perhaps they are really label free. Not conservative, not liberal, not moderates and not libertarians, simply career D.C. scum, ya think?
This election season has unmasked the jerks.

'afternoon' Daisy

I did see a question: "do I believe the establishment Repubs are conservatives??"
I do not know who they are, and not knowing makes it difficult to find out anything about their real personal political persuasions. I am certain, however, as a group they want to look and sound very conservative, to keep their $$ and power stranglehold and THAT is why they are desperate enough risk going to the convention, hoping to pull a political rabbit out of their collective hat. The choice of Romney to try a verbal assassination attempt on Trump was emblematic of the level of their idiocy, anxiety and DESPERATION. [couldn't find another party faithful sucker to do the job].

I think career DC scum is a worthy appellation.

It has failed, the GOPe may point at Romney and blame him for Trump not being stopped.
I don't believe there is anyone who could defeat Trump now.

Talk of a Romney campaign could be, if serious, an indication that there is a movement toward a Clinton presidency within the Republican party.
It's possible, during the general election, that Romney could draw off enough votes from Trump to hand the win to Clinton.
I hope all the talk of a Romney run is just talk.

Did you hear her stump for Cruz, this morning?
She'll do it for anyone--especially if Hillary is indicted.

by anything short of a disaster can she?
I think she's paying her dues to the establishment.
I certainly hope the Trump administration turns out better than I expect. I just don't know enough about him and when it comes to politics the 'news' companies spew lies.
