I have an interesting (hope) post planed on shooters and steel targets.. the "creedmore" position, and shooting at steel rams started one of those "wonder if those guys ever did this" thoughts.

Not in the mood to fight it tonight tho so will do it later.. (as opposed to those 2 word post folks, snicker, snicker)

Honestly pard i'm sorta ready to hand over that fifth star.. you don't know the pressure, pretty sure thats why i have the grey hair.. oh SORRY forgot you went and lost your "said hair".. constant worry, wondering where badgirl is.. matter of fact, where is she i sorta miss the puzzle posts

Anyhoo, I am within a few hundred rounds of my 'stock pile'............

I've been gone forever and nobody has caught up yet. You people must not understand the concept of posting a lot without really saying anything. I do it all the time when I'm actually talking. My lips move and sounds come out, but they don't usually result in anything worthwhile.

at 10k for a while. I thought I was going to catch up, but hell no. Of course, removing a lot of the pics I had posted dropped my count, but the quality is more important than the number of words. At least that's what my wife says right before she tells me to shut the fuck up.

But I definitely go with quality of quantity in that case. While I truly believe two ugly girls at once equals a hot girl, two diseased whores does not equal a clean one.

Hey greg

Nope, still working on the truck. I think I'll get it finished and try to sell it, make enough for a down payment on an F150. Diesel's fun, but I don't get why the fuel is higher than gas. Diesel was always cheaper than gas when I was growing up.

Yeah, I'm in FLW, training privates on the M9, MK19, and M2. I'm working on bringing our pistol training out of the 1970s and into the 21st century. It'll be an uphill battle, but unfortunately, that shooting on Ft Hood will probably allow for some changes to doctrine. Hopefully.

Weapons training is restricted to US military, and posting it on open-source internet would be a bad thing for me. It wouldn't be that much fun to watch anyway, as we don't do the training at the range itself. Our part is limited to teaching the ins and outs of the gun. I would love to set up a video for the pistol portion of it, as I teach (mostly) within the approved lesson plan but add the techniques that work, as opposed to the outdated stuff the doctrine says. The good thing about it is that my actual job title is "Instructor/Writer", which means I'm supposed to submit recommendations for changes. That takes quite a while to get approved, though, and I'm told that even if my suggestions do get approved, I'm not likely to see the new lesson plan during my three-year tenure at the schoolhouse.

Understood,

I can't imagine that it is much different with what some of us are used to, plus you are limited to the 9mm NATO round for training. I like the 9mm and carry it daily, but if there was anything that ecaman and the likes of Greg have taught me is that some of the 'retro' .357/.44 mag 'wheel' guns are worth looking into, but not in your profession, just a personal thing.

I really want a .44

I want a S&W 29 or 629 Classic so bad I can taste it. Tastes like gun metal and Hoppes #9. Yum. I'm hoping to get a .357 snubbie to carry as a car gun, but both of those will take quite a while. Gotta build up the Remmy 700 first so I can shoot F-class competitions. I'll get some funny looks when I show up with a 7mm Mag.

Interesting, though. The 7mm Mag used to be the standard caliber for secret service sniper rifles until the 300 win mag came out.

yep.. revolvers have their place besides the usual paper weight thing..

i was a big 1911 guy back in the mid 80's when all the surplus pieces came on the market.. Got out when they doubled (now like quadrupled) in price..

I'll have Gary's Remington that he carried thru two tours next week.. but not sure i'll keep it.. will see..

carried, and qualified on Glocks after we transitioned.. guess my personal favorite for autos is the old browning hi power, but you can shoot a revolver knowing it will NEVER stove pipe, FTF, FTE, or SSIF, (shoot self in foot)..

Don't get it wrong, I love my wheelguns, too. In fact, I think my next purchase is going to be a revolver. I've already got a few, but I could always make room for a few more.

Guide gun, hell yeah!

I'd love to have one of those things. .30-30s and .35 Remingtons make great brush guns for deer, but I've always wanted a .444 Marlin or .45-70 for hunting in the briars. It's already in my wish list book.

Wish list book, who am I kidding? It's a wish list Encyclopedia Brittannica

Runs, brush gun

Uncle used to be a guide up in Maine and this was his brush gun choice mostly.

Ruger flier 44 Magnum Carbine
My Uncle always used this in the brush while guiding up in Maine with a Red Hawk in his chest rig.

EAA's.. that's another neat thing about a rev. they can be cheap and still function better than an "equally" low priced auto..

speaking of "euro" weapons..

I've always found it funny that Germany, home to all things perfect mechanical, makes the worst revolver money can buy.. guess the Korth balances it all out.. but still odd..

Guys, be back in one ( a warning huh) .. G's heading to bed, and i have a sick frau..(they really are one in the same you sick puppys)

ISD, you are correct

IMO, the two 'wheel guns' that I own are the Windicator and a Taurus 'Judge', man they are fun too shoot, some would argue the .410 shot round being a 'range toy', I call it a snake gun....But the .45 long colt will kill 'ya....lol

We shot Billys S&W Governor with various loads and he settled on the PDX1 or 45ACP. So we shot the PDX1 out of his Judge and it was just as nasty. The Pellets spread out torso wide and the three disks generally hit in a line about 3 - 6 inchs long punching slug sized holes.

Snake gun for sure, slithering or bipedal.. heh

Yeah, the PDX1 410 is good stuff. I was dubious about it myself. Until I blasted some beef ribs and a chicken with it. I feel more confident about it now.

I did a review and included some videos:

anyone considering one of the new Coonans. They are well worth the money and the wait.

Cole's ordered 3 of them a few months back and they came in a little bit ago. One of the guys backed out of his for money reasons (kids are a joy) so Billy bought his also. We shot them with Speer loads at the top of the chart and the damn pistols hit so soft and are so accurate it should be a crime.

The fit is so tight and the movements are so smooth. Even inside the slide when I flipped it over looked polished smooth (no tooling marks at all). It is hard to believe that each complete Pistol starts out as one Solid block of Stainless.

I think a 44 mag from a carbine length barrel would be fun, but not much would beat that .45-70 in the briars. Well, until it was time to buy more ammo. I haven't checked prices on .45-70, but I imagine it thumps you in the shoulder and wallet.

It's a Ford. Like I've said, no other company cares as much about their customers' physical fitness. Fords are designed to break down in all seasons, in all locations, usually at the most inopportune time, forcing the owners to walk, and therefore getting much needed exercise. Can Chevy and Dodge say that? I think not.

Is there one coming? How big a front are we talking? Is it hitting out west or all over? Actually, and I'll probably regret saying this, I almost welcome it 'cause it got warm lately (70s).

Now I'm probably going to pay for that. It'll probably drop to 10 and my heater will break down.

He went through the steps in the video and installed the safety switch. Same symptoms.
He said the internal "bar" on the right side was not engaging the hammer release consistently.
Any thoughts?

Lot of wisdom in this

A quote from the Louis L'Amour book I just finished, The Californios.
A character called "the old one" is speaking.

"What is education but a conditioning of the mind to a society and a way of life? There are many kinds of education, and often education closes as many doors as it opens, for to believe implies disbelief. One accepts one kind of belief but closes the mind to all that is, or seems contradictory."

Vaq, ask your son

If he installed the Hammer Decocker Spring with the Safety, if he did that is the problem.

It should only be installed with the Decocker installed.

Hi Vaq,

SOS different day. I have the day off tomorrow and I thought I would play with my sizing die for 9mm and see if I can rectify my case bulge issue, I haven't messed with it since we last spoke of it, been shooting factory rounds.

9mm sizing

I can't for the life of me remember how I rectified that. I sure remember the first couple of batches though. Had that "hourglass figure" to 'em. Been too long since I owned a nine but I did get it right, just don't remember how. ??

9 mm case life

Try it out with once shot brass and see if it cures the feed issue. 9mm cases swell at the base after being loaded a number of times.

Mother's milk

Students in an advanced Biology class were taking their mid-term exam.
The last question was, 'Name seven advantages of Mother's Milk,' worth
70 points or none at all. One student, in particular, was hard put to
think of seven advantages. He wrote:

1.) It is perfect formula for the child.
2.) It provides immunity against several diseases.
3.) It is always the right temperature.
4.) It is inexpensive.
5.) It bonds the child to mother, and vice versa.
6.) It is always available as needed.

And then, the student was stuck. Finally, in desperation, just before
the bell indicating the end of the test rang, he wrote...

7.) It comes in 2 attractive containers.

He got an A.

Been great Vaq..

Think you picked up that we have a new pooch.. Amy is smarter than i am till the second cup of coffee... Sorta looks at me like ..you sure you don't wana have decaf there mr.. ha ha ..shes what you would imagine a cross between a shep and coyote to look like.. Vet says ausi shep, but her coat and everything about her (except no low hips) say German.. size, body, coat, are all coyote, with a sheps head and attitude.. real focused..

I've got her collar wrapped in international orange to make sure no one thinks we have a "yote" in the back yard.. living rural has it's draw backs.. everyone has a 22 right inside the door.. Not saying this is right and sure not with our Amy, but everyone has a bad story about loosing a dog or cat to a "pack"..

Were gone to PHX tomorrow.. alls good at the VA, and tomorrow should be a fun trip.. thats it pard.. see ya later..

sheesh Lee.. you would think i could spell stucco in two attemps.. Play (and kick ass to) "Alex, i'll take prettymuchanything for 500" every night.. outside of that pesky spelling thing, where i sorta duck down behind the sofa, and try not to be seen.. sigh.. but like i always say.. "im not just any old retard.. im YOUR retard".. ha ha..

I mentioned yesterday, and this morning that TX would be whooped today with twisters.. No ESP involved on this one, just a simple weather read based on the front we had come thru AZ yesterday. This had a major drop in pressure, and was both fast and cold so figured that it would hit the warm air over TX and cause super cells.. This is one that im not happy to be right on, the film comming in from Fox affiliates in the DFW area looks real bad.. debris field like a holloywood movie.. cars in the air..

hope all you TX boys stay safe.. Whats the deal on Lucky.. is he still down there or did he get a load out already.. Keep seeing big rigs on their side, and thinking those guys are earning their living right now.. Will see you all later.. News, then were having a "showing" of the home.. Told G i wana move to TX..way to boring around here...

Tornadoes

We had a few touch downs here in DFW. Things are clearing now. People panicking all over the place. I personally prefer tornado warnings over tornado watches. If that mother is on the ground and moving, I can see it. It's the one I don't know about that's about to drop down on me that worries me.

Matter of fact i put that comment up about Lucky still being down there after seeing that video.. The news had it wrong.. here's a lot of exact same color trailors.. what do they call it.. a Flying J truck stop... Where's the common since here.. if all the trucks are the EXACT same color is it maybe possible that it's a fleet HQ..

This is neat.. i thought the Saints "colony" was some sorta tongue in cheak like TG's outer rim thing.. Had no idea that it was a actually an area outside of (least close to) DFW.. So were watching FOX waiting for the realitor to call.. They had one of the weather screens up.. I see saints colony on the map..and it looks like he's in the middle of it all.. Have to remember here that this was in the middle of some serious film footage.. the whole "flying trailor" thing.. i start doing the "over here, over here floor dance" Glorias looking at me like i've just lost what little mind i've got left.. say's "what in the world are you so excited about"... i say "Honey !! that's where Saint John lives"... (this really happend dudes).. I'm laughing as i type this, cause i know you guys know what im talking about.. Gloria of course had no idea, and by now is giving me that "who stole my husband" look..

Anyway glad you boys are all ok.. Food time.. Be back later.. yeah i know your all holding your breath.. later dudes..

AZ fire stuff..

were watching this real time.. Good news on the amount of white smoke, but bad news on the area.. were up wind so danger to us, and not a lot of populated areas, but it could get nasty as not a lot of natural breaks in front of it.. Brief histroy.. Bradshaw range is one of the longest mt ranges in the country.. Runs down the center of AZ from Prescott to PHX.. number of 8K plus mts and a LOT of uncontroled burn areas.. If your living in the rural west fire is something you "do" without thinking, just like scorpians (hate em) and snakes..

What a cute puppy. Maybe you should have an exorcism for your dog. Or maybe just a flea collar would help.

Still a pretty effective gaurd dog. I know I would be afriad to come near a house with a dog like that, just becasue I'm afriad I'd get some weird infection from being near it.

Is it just me or are the spammers out in droves today? There's like 60 people on right now and only like 4-5 of them are actually one of us, the rest are spam bots.
