PPS43C

I'm looking at maybe getting a Polish PPS43C. Looks like a fun shooter, but one thing bugs me. The folding stock is welded down to make it unusable. You could break the weld with a dremel tool to release the stock but thats illegal according to ATF unless you put on a longer barrel. (gun is sold as a pistol) but not worth doing as barrel is welded to reciever among other things. My question is what is ATFs logic here?. shotguns must have a certain barrel length, but a pistol can shoot .410 slugs if the barrel is rifled and be legal. I know I have seen artillery Luger pistols with stocks and others, so why not the PPS? So what if it started ouy it's life as an SMG, It;s still just a semi auto now.

I can explain that for you: We have a gun grabbing commie as president and ATF stands for All Total Fuckups.

i thought the T. meant treasonous.

the deal with the folder is.....you presently have a pistol you say,so that means the barrel is under the 16" BATFE guidelines for what they consider a "rifle" if you break the weld you would then have a "short barreled rifle" SBR.you need a tax stamp for that.if your barrel is something like 12" you may be able to get a long style flash suppressor or muzzle break permanently attached to get the required 16" and then fix your unusable folder.

Barrel length on the PPS is about 9.6 inches. So muzzle brake is likely a no go. What I really don't understand is the logic behind the ATF reg, The PPs43 is just as concealable and dead;y without the stock,as it would be with the stock unfolded, it's just easier to control. I can see sawed off 12 gauge being a problem, or a high powered rifle, but the PPS uses pistol rounds. Hell you can take an AK or Ar15 plarform and make it a pistol and thats just fine. I've even seen a pistol made out of a milsurp Moisin Nagant. Damn ATF takes all the fun out shooting

i don't get it either.personaly i don't think any regulation on semi autos of any kind is necessary.is a sawed off shote any more dangerous?NO,if anything its less accurate and loses power quickly at any distance over 10 yards.they fail to admit that by restricting our guns with law, they only restrict the law abiding citizens.a criminal won't care, because they are going to shoot somebody, why not do it with an illegal gun right?
