In Praise of Gunslot

I wanted to take a second and kind of give you all some well deserved praise for being one of the extremely rare places online where intelligent discourse still exists. It seems like everywhere else the order of the day is to insult anyone who disagrees with you by calling them ignorant or saying they know nothing and no basic human respect exists. Thank you all for behaving like civilized human beings.

Gun stuff first.. Matty your on the money.. think we forget a lot of times how important this place is to us.. Pretty neat to be able to come on and deal with friends, or just to watch videos, read forums, or look at pictures.. I especially like the coloring book section with Saint, and Pard.. but thats just me..

ISD.. Guys we have a pro among us.. besides his friendship, and knowledge this guy is also one first class leather worker.. Think you all know Jon makes holsters.. Yep. he MAKES holsters.. Got mine today, and a beautiful piece of leather work.. This is no small thing to me, fact is i've got like four or five times more holsters than guns.. Every time i walk into a gun store i wind up picking up a holster.. If you guys aren't hip to this, let me fill you in.. most all gun stores have a big cardboard box filled with used holsters.. CHEAP.. i like leather, and have bought new ones.. Talking all the major companies here.. My air weight now has three leather holsters, and two nylon ones.. Yep i know it's odd.. welcome to my world.. anyway a GOOD leather holster will set ya back 70 PLUS bucks.. I've got some (ok a lot) of these..

I also have a holster from ISD that i paid a lot less for.. matter of fact i added a ten spot to the price cause i thought he was to cheap, and glad i did.. BEAUTIFUL.. and a perfect fit for my airweight, i wanted a cross draw, with a forward cant.. Got that and a lot more.. perfect fit, lined, double leather where it should be.. holds the piece perfect, and honestly almost jumps into my hand.. i'm serious guys 1st class workmanship, and quality with a cap Q.. im still shaking my head at how great this thing is Jon.. thanks brother..

On the home front Gloria and i have SOLD our home.. like a lot of things in life, its about working for it.. G did more of the work (on selling) than i did, cause to be honest guys this whole "rural" thing is more important to me than here, and i sure understand why she it's harder on her.. Goes without saying that nothing is more important to me than keeping here happy so.. guess were moving down to the valley.. Pard (ya lop) stand by for a pm later..

and i was just advised that dinner is ready.. see ya all later..

moving?

Man, you sure picked the wrong part of the year! You'll get here just in time for the 110+ months. See if you can hold off till Sept. Do you know what part of the valley you're moving to?

so right Reap..

Guessing the west side, but so much to chose from.. The question now is which part of the buyers market to take advantage of.. Little hard to reduce the value of our home to current market values, but then again were looking at great home values, and mortgage rates below 4%..

Note here to all..and some free advice.. were blessed here in a lot of ways.. guess the "move temp" might not be one of them..lol .. But we really are living the dream guys...

i've deleted three or four long thoughts on this.. Guess i want to share something cause we are blessed.. Lot of this comes from being out of debt, and if you just manage two things, everyone can be.. know what it's like to struggle, and i can tell you life is WONDERFUL when you get out of debt.. The two things are to pay your bills.. Then find a levil of "consuming" that is just a bit less than your income.. the first one is pretty easy.. the second one is harder.. when your out of debt (or heading that way) everyone in the free world wants to give you credit.. Once you adjust your consuming to a point that your comfortable living with a little less.. and honestly not talking about major things, just minor cutbacks on those things not really needed..

glad you like the wrapper. Tension screw should allow you to put the colt in it I think? Not really sure as I didn't try it.

Move? Hell, you would have to move just to be somewhere to move from!

LOL... Out of curiosity I did a Google Earth, man you live in what they would call up in Maine, God's Country. Of course me getting up there to Maine left me feeling like that was nothing more than saying No Where in a nicer way!

Hahaha...

btw: put a pistol in it and take a picture, I'd like to see the fit.?.

first off, got to tell you i love that holster.. Had it on all day, and perfect.. i can say with out question that it's the quickest out of leather holster i've ever owned.. that came as a surprise.. the fit and Finnish are first class, and i love it.. thanks buddy.. I've got some holsters i paid close to twice as much for that i don't like as well.. thats a value..

.. yep really is God's country.. When you make the drive thru our area there are times when .. and talking as a resident here.. you just want to stop and look.. horses everywhere.. The main landowner is a guy named Mauhn.. and he's bought (not leased) the largest slice of private AZ that exists.. right after we moved in they started a fence project (pipe, 60", 4 rail, white) you guys out west know this as a horse fence.. guess they see white better or something.. anyway this is now the longest fence in AZ, and goes close to 35 miles long.. That brother is a fence..

Nothing out here but cattle and horses.. three small communities of less than 500 each.. and a lot of dirt roads.. Just north of us is Bill Rugers old ranch.. Family still owns some 2K acres or so.. They still raise cattle, but like Maughn it's more for show than profit.. Smart thinking led them to sell the bad cattle area (mountains with beautiful views) and thats Ruger ranch.. Don't get me wrong.. A major big league spring, and fall round up.. but not like the big TX operations.. Going to guess here, but right now is when their calf'n.. and the separated "moms" are a heard of maybe 150 or so..

Pretty neat as they keep that heard close to us, and of course the population doubles.. Same with the horse Ramada.. Last week we saw one just getting up.. Always a good 50 plus horses off the highway, and theirs a thoroughbred farm directly across the highway from us.. All of this can be seen on Google Earth..

What cant be see is the poor side of rural living.. sorta sad.. we have a lot of nice homes around us, but as were so rural the idea of CC&R's or any sort of building rules is sorta .. what?? So we have nice homes and some area's that make HUD housing look upscale.. You don't realize the down side of being in the sticks for a couple years.. then when you see an add for "dominos" and know it's an hour and a half away it gets old.. anyway.. grandkids are growing up without us, and nope..thats going to change.. night to you all.. Pard i sent that pm i was going to last night sorry..

My brother in crime growing up was from a split family. His mother had been divorced from his father after having 4 kids. His father owned a big Car Dealership in KC Kansas and eventually had four or five of them spread out across the country. He ended up in California married to some secretary or something.

Anyway, Paul's mother always had this huge wool tube sock with her and I always wanted to ask what was up with that but didn't because she always seemed half baked. So about 3 weeks into him and I starting to hang out he ups and tells me his mother keeps this gun in the sock and she has another one full of bullets. Said she carried it so if she ever saw that cheating rat bastard she was going to give him what he deserved.

It turned out to be her grand fathers 1911 who had actually been in the service between WW1 and WW2. She had one mag with it which she kept in it and then had that sock with a bunch of GI issue lead ball. Knowing what I know now, I'm not so sure every round would have fired or not.

But, after he told me that I always was sure to smile at her allot, tell her she looked pretty and also would smack any of the guys who called her anything derogatory. Seemed to me she had a reason to be like she was and all she ever did was try and be a mother to all those kids after some ass hat lied to her, buried her in kids and hauled ass once he made it with some bubble gum chewing bottle blond slut.

anyway...

made me giggle thinking about Mrs B and her sock! She'd get drunk and roam around the house looking for that sock because we had hid it under her mattress when she had started drinking.

She was kind of like the mother caricature in " Every which way but Loose " loved her to death but batty as rabid raccoon.

course the fastest is I-17 from 40 down to 10.. but you can also pick up 89 and go from flag down to wickenburg then into PHX on 60.. The truck route "can" be 89 from Prescott down, but most go county road (beautiful, fast, straight, good) from Prescott thru skull valley then down to wickenburg and in on 60.. Lot of trucks, and beautiful.. If you have a load on the W side of PHX it makes since, and better than going down 17..
