pre~1898 Mauser

sports mans guide has them for $330 7mm/308 are they worth buying and shooting? Hunting with one would be only iron sights a little more $$$$ can get a newer 3006 with scope.

from where? I'm guessing the .308 was converted from 8mm?

early(pre 98) mausers

most were of the 6.5 or 7mm variety.lots have been rebored and chambered to .308 and other cases but I am real concerned since these were not real strong actions.fine for the ammo they were built for buit not for modern ammo.
