President-elect Obama's National Security Force
AP Monday, November 10, 2008 WASHINGTON -- A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship. "It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may -- may not, I hope not -- but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism." Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military. "That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist." Obama's comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado about building a new civil service corps. Among other things, he called for expanding the nation's foreign service and doubling the size of the Peace Corps "to renew our diplomacy." "We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," Obama said in July. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." Broun said he also believes Obama likely will move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national police force. Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors "common sense" gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he'll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally. "We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun said. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential." Your accusations against Obama are ignorant. He is proposing a civilian organization to complement the military in its tasks. Where does the military operate? Outside the country, and so would this new organization, for things like helping rebuild Iraq and other non-military objectives that the military is currently being misused for.
You like to accuse Obama of being both a Marxist and link him to Hitler, which makes no sense. Hitler was a right-winger, running on many of the themes as the Republican party: family values, morality, support of the military, national pride. And the phrase "New World Order" was popularized recently by a Republican president.
It's people like you who are a threat to our democracy: you are ignorant, and in your ignorance you run into the open arms of right wing demagogues, and it is those people who are the biggest threat to any democracy.

The republican premise has been lost with George Bush. He expanded government, increased spending and did not stand up for constitutional values. But the Patriot act was very constitutional becuase the governmental right exists to monitor foreign entities. This goes back to Tripoli. This is why the case has not been shot down by the supreme court. We have a right to survival.

I have friends and family that accept welfare when they are capable of working. The State advertises welfare. Its an ad campaign. Other staes give bus tickets to NY to get rid of their welfare people. NY makes it so easy to get on welfare that people move here for it.
But greasy, if you need help get it. Your the reason the help is there. You want to work. You may need some help for a time, but youll end up back on your feet. The welfare I hate is generational. Mon was on welfare, daughter is on welfare.
When the steel mills close in Buffalo, my dad reluctantly accepted welfare until he went to the police academy. I ate enough welfare cheese. Thats why I hate grilled cheese.

I was hurt in the Marine's 22 years ago and got out on a medical dischange. I worked for a for 7 years before my injury from the military started to acted up and made me lost my job with the VA. The VA hired my knowing I had a serve-connected injury and still fired me because of the injury. It took me 2 years to get on SSDI. My SSDI is based on my injury from the military and the VA does not want to pay me. I'm only 20% which is $230 a month but I can not work because of my military injury. I have been trying now for 15 years to got my 100% from the VA. I have a case in now that should got me my 100% now. I will not know for sure until sometime until January or Feburary if I get my 100%. A 100% pays $2,640 a month. Right now my wife and I are trying to live off $978.00 a month and I only get $72 for food stamp a month. I'm living in my in-laws second home, other wise we would be homeless. So, I understand what you are talking about.

What are they teaching in highschool? I learned a lot about communism, fascism and why they were wrong. We learned about marxism and nazism. Go I feel old. But we understood hard work. I worked all summer long to ppay for hockey season, fishing....carried golf bags, picked corn, washed dishes...now theese jobs are all foreigners.
Education is now an indoctrinal time. They indoctrinate kids with a lack of respect and a sense of entitlement. These kids get out with poor work skill and work ethic.

Lastly, I am trying to be optimistic about our future president, and hopefully he will do this country good. However, I DO see him signing the proposed gun bans that will undoubtedly get thrown in his face! Does this mean they will try to confiscate our firearms... NO. Does it mean that they will most likely tax the shit out of imported guns and ammo (he proposed a 500% increase), put restrictions on certain classes of weapon and further infringe on our 2nd amendment rights similar to the famous Brady Bill... PROBABLY. If you are a gun owner who supports the idea of keeping our constitutional rights in tact, then you would be aware of future president Obama's stance on gun control. It sounds like you agree with him on a lot of other issues, which is fine, we live in a free country... but you just joined a GUN site and started slandering its members and making nieeve claims, therefore I am critiquing Obama's stance on firearms and nothing else. Like I said in the beginning, I look at the glass half full, but I can also "call a spade, a spade." I'm not comparing Obama to Hitler, nor trying to teach history class.
