will do.any comments about using 2 pieces of mdf counter drilled for the take down pin lugs to clamp my upper in a vice as opposed 2 buying a "real receiver vise block"?and any thoughts on what to coat the bare metal that was under my factory front sight tower?thanks!

vise block

I used to use 2x4's.

A lot of options for coating... are you doing it for aesthetics or just protection? I imagine the hand guard covers it. In that case couldn't you just use oxpho blue?

coating for protection

don't care about what you will "see" its about a 1/8" gap between the top and bottom of the 2 piece gas block on both sides.thought a bout....(banjo music plain in the background here)...thought about a flat black hi temp paint since i don't wan a pay for re parkerizing.good to know the wood trick will work..

Looks good. Make sure to get some 30 round mags and bury them in a sealed container. ;)

thanks saint.

i got a few hi caps out of state.dont need any here, but i would like to have some magpul 20's with a 10rd limiter installed (cheaper and easier to find than 10rd),and "permanately" pinned floor plate.ca law says its a 10 rd if it requires the use of a tool to convert back to 20rd.....a few pins through the floor plate would be legal, while allowing me to service the mag,or convert it back in another state.see the california circus: human dog through the flaming hoops of legality show!

Jay...

Sorry about the delay.... Trying to catch up from a long absence... Rifle looks great, and if you ever feel the need to break from Kalifornia, I have some spare Gov. Surplus 30 rnd mags I could donate to the cause. Lol!
