I know I posted a few weeks ago about my grandfather passing, being a WWII Veteran. It has been a rough few weeks for my family, in particular for my wife. A few days after my grandfather passing, one of her uncles passed. I just found out he may be a 2 time Purple Heart recipient. A week later my wife had an Aunt that passed. I know this is going to sound crazy but, the next day after that funeral another Uncle had passed. Another Purple Heart recipient. I have been trying to find out info regarding his award. His son George Jr. told me he was in a convoy and thinks he was the only survivor when they hit a land mine. This alone kept him from talking about it I guess. Most of the younger part of his family didn't know about it. I am proud to tell you a friend of his in the VA hospital has arranged a 21 gun salute for him. Yes we have lost 4 of our relatives in as many weeks, and we are dealing with it the best we can. I wonder if any of you know how to find a list of recipients or links or anything that could help. His son would really appreciate it. This man was a great father and a gun lover. I know he was a gun lover because he and I haggled over a S&W Model 59 years ago, and I won.

Our Thoughts and Prayers are with you
Families, Friends and Neighbors wait
You are not alone
As we are with you all in spirit
With heart felt sorrow
We continue to watch and listen
Wishing we could do more to help
To those who did this to us
It is time for you to know
We can not be torn apart
These colors don't run
We will always stand United

In the last few years I've lost my grandfather and a great uncle that were both WWII heroes and Purple Heart recipients. D-day +1 casualties.

We are quickly losing that entire generation and our country is worse off for it.

May God bless those that remain and go before us!

The son needs to find his dad's discharge papers or if he knows his dad's service number. St. Louis, MO. is where he would send to get is father's medal.
